In: Shell Rotella Gas Truck 0W-20 Synthetic/Toyota 04152-YZZA1

2001 Honda CR-V
186,632 miles
8.5 months, 12,391 miles on OCI
Out: Quaker State High Mileage Synthetic 5W-30/Fram Tough Guard TG7317
In: Quaker State High Mileage Synthetic 5W-30/Purolator Synthetic PSL14459 (new old stock)

Changed oil in my 2007 Ford Fusion 2.3. I did my normal 10K OCI. and the engine used about 6-8 oz of oil. The engine now has 325K miles and still shows no sign of engine wear and appears very clean through the oil fill hole, and runs great.

Out: M1 5-30 HM

In: M1 5-30HM

Filter: MC 2017 B Cartridge

2012 Rav4 V6 at 196,876 miles.
Out: (probably Kendall 5W30 semi-syn or whatever bulk oil the local shop uses and unknown filter).
In: Pennzoil High Mileage full syn 5W30 and Toyota filter.
Ran 5,552 miles on the shop oil change (I didn't have time to do it back in August and I needed the tires rotated then).
So far the Rav4 hasn't used any noticeable oil during the 5-6,000K changes and still runs strong.
Also replaced the air and cabin filter.

In looking at the specs for the Pennzoil Platinum High Mileage Synthetic 5w30, I was surprised to see the GTL based motor oil having 11.4 cst@100 viscosity. The price today was good also.... around $23.94
BTW....The default Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 only lists 10.3 in virgin viscosity.

What also surprised me was the low Flashpoints on these various Platinums. Could be the reason many users complain about oil consumption.

I don't think this engine really cares what's in it. The longest I've driven between oil changes is 6,300 miles. My commute is 70 miles round trip with 64 being highway. This 5qt jug was $23.78 at Wal Mart so it was one of the cheaper oils on the shelf.

My reply was intended for Platinum users that often complain in UOAs that the 5/10w30 oil slipped into 5w20 territory.
Moving into the High Mileage version and still finding benefits with GTL, removes the worries (where fuel dilution shearing occurs..... common with many GDI/TGDIs today).

I'm done with this. This thread is all about continuous reported oil changes, not Platinum.

Cousins truck
2003 Chev Avalanche 5.3L - rusted but mechanicals good.
Out: Franchise quick lube 5w30 and Luber-Finer PH44
In: 3L Motorcraft 10W30 (from open jug) + 3L M1 0W40 Euro.
Fram PH3506 - bought for $2 because previous owner address is on box.
Mileage not monitored, old oil was disgusting.
