BG is used by VW dealerships to flush the coolant systems (total snake oil sales), and the main reason why they have clogged heater cores as those that skip never have issues. I personally would not touch that with 10ft pole.
My friend does not have issue with huge consumption. he is non car guy, not diligent in checking oil. He ownes car last 50k, and I always changed oils strictly using M1 5W30 EP. The engine is smooth and works great, but it uses some OI. 0W40 might be enough to lower consumption to the point of reaching 5K without the need to add oil.
MY friend is VW tech and they use the BG EPR for the "oil burners" that come in. I believe he said it was TSB they they had. He is one of the few mechanics that I trust.

2016 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk.

87,700 on the vehicle
4.950 on the new long block replaced under warranty.
4,950 on the oil.

Out - whatever Jeep put in and factory filter MO-339 = 04892339BE
In - 5 qt of 5W-30 Valvoline Restore and Protect and 1/2 qt M1 HM 0W-20, new Mopar MO-339 like above. The M1 was the "top off" bottle we had in the vehicle from old motor using a bunch. This motor used 1/2 qt in the first 2 weeks/700 miles and hasn't used any since 🤞.

No glitter that I could see in the oil drain pan or anything at the bottom when emptied. I still need to do a C&P of the filter to check that.

The Trailhawk has a pretty heavy metal skid plate. It is held on by 4x 12mm bolts, 6x 10mm bolts, and 5x T30 Torx holding bumper cover to the plate. My Ridgid 1/4" impact gun didn't budge the 12mm ones, I ended up with my M18 on the lowest setting. One of them totally cross threaded and one was MIA. The Ridgid worked fine for 10mm's and T30's.

While under there the fender liner's are missing a push pin retainer so the plastic flaps around. Going to Jeep tomorrow to request them from service manager and parts guy as well as the missing bolt and the cross threaded one.

The 13mm drain plug has a very fat head on it and what appears to be maybe a small O-ring. Quick search said torque is only like 18 ft/lbs for it. The drain pan has missing paint and some nice like it was dragged scratches by the fill plug.

THEN

I'm cleaning up, putting tools, ramps away, only thing left by curb is the used jug that was going to be put in my car for recycle. Had to get my keys and take a piss. Mailman shows up about 2 hours earlier than any other day for years and doesn't see the jug. I'm walking toward the door from bathroom and here a POP as he drives away.        . There was still about 2 1/2 qts in the jug that I was able to pour into another jug for recycle and then clean up the mess.

Good Job! As Forrest Gump say “it happens” 😍🤣

I’m convinced that Chrysler or whatever they call themselves put Loctite all over that dumb metal pan bolts.

My Honda's, Hyundai, Kia, neighbors 4Runner all have about 29-30 ft/lbs for them but then all of them do have crush washers which the Jeep doesn't.
I've had a few vehicles that call out that much torque, and I back off on that to 20-22 ft-lbs so I don't over stress the threads - they never show any sign of moving with that lower torque. No drain plug in an oil pan needs to be 30 ft-lbs IMO, especially when the threads are lubricated with oil.

2020 Ford Ranger, 75k, change oil every 5k with Valvoline 5w-30 synthetic.
Started using the FL-400S filter instead of the OE FL-910S, it's bigger and supposed to have slightly higher bypass pressure.

Wife's 2020 Chrysler Pacifica, 100k, change every 5k, Supertech 0w-20 and Supertech filter.
Walmart tends not to have a lot of selection of 0w-20 so I just get whatever they have.

Yeah, VW dealerships are pushing BG, and then take good money on heater core failures.
As for oil burners, it might help, but this consumption is not dramatic.

Service manual states 27 foot pounds for my vehicle, i normally do 25 foot pounds. I think 27 and up is somewhat excessive for wet torque.

Been a while since I posted on here, here we go:

2013 Toyota Tundra 5.7L, 165,000 mi, 5,000 OCI
Out: QS FS 0W-20, OE Toyota Filter
In: QS FS 0W-20, OE Toyota Filter
Running strong, no oil consumption. Will do QSUD next time.

2014 Honda Accord 2.4L, 125,000 mi, 5,000 OCI
Out: PP 0W-20, OE Honda Filter
In: PP 0W-20, OE Honda Filter
Oil level at the low mark on the dipstick, I think it's the oil control ring for #1 that's causing it to sip oil.

2017 Honda Accord 2.4L, 95,000 mi, 5,000 OCI
Out: PP 0W-20, OE Honda Filter
In: PP 0W-20, OE Honda Filter
My daily's running strong, no oil consumption. Found a local Walmart that stocks PUP, will switch to it next time.

2019 Jeep Cherokee 2.4L, 100,000 mi, 5,000 OCI
Out: PP 0W-20, OE Mopar Filter, OE Spark Plugs (Champion I think they were?)
In: PUP 0W-20, OE Mopar Filter, NGK Ruthenium Spark Plugs
Running strong, no oil consumption.

That's all folks!
try a 5w-30 in the accords. i have two that i have reduced oil burning to near zero on.
