Post your latest oil change

Lookout! Another thickie convert! 🤣

Any specific issues that caused you to choose Valvoline Restore and Protect, or just as a preventative measure? And, did you get it on a sale/discount?
Never! Thin for life!

See if Valvoline Restore and Protect paired with some Gumout does anything for my colder weather dilution. Figure why not give a try to see if it helps.

2016 VW Golf 1.8 TSI
81,148 miles
4.7k mile, 4 month OCI

Out: 5 quarts Mobil 1 Euro 0W-40, 1 quart Supertech Full Synthetic 5w30, Fram Synthetic Endurance FE11784
In: 6 quarts Valvoline Restore and Protect, Fram Synthetic Endurance FE11784

I fell for the marketing hype and decided to give Valvoline Restore and Protect a try. Nothing about the engine particularly says “clean me,” but I figure what’s the harm in experimenting with a few short OCIs of this stuff? It gives me the warm fuzzies to think I might be cleaning, well, something that might have built up in the engine’s 80k miles. Or not. I’ll check the oil filter at the next change and see what awaits me.

This oil smells odd, like burnt rubber. Pairs well with salmon. I recommend serving between 49-55ºF to unlock the full flavor profile.

I live in the country, so if I drive around the neighborhood, it’s a 4.5 mile round trip around the closest block 🤣

I literally just pulled over on the way home… oil & transmission fluid was technically changed at 188002 but the round number seems cooler lol
I feel cheated knowing it wasn’t the true number!! 🤪🤪

Not much difference parts / oil wise, but the last lot worked great. Good MPG. Almost 0 oil burnt since last change.

It does a lot of motorway miles behind lorries. Weirdly, on this engine the intake is inside the engine bay, so it is probably picking up any oil vapours etc from in there as well. I think that filter had about 15k miles on it.
Yikes. Where I live and drive, one could go 100k miles without the air filter looking like that.

Out: unknown quick lube (probably conventional) and their micro gaurd oil filter

In: Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30 and Fram Ultra synthetic

241k miles on the car with sludge and varnish. Let's see valvoline put their money where their mouth is.

Also, changed out the engine air filter. Don't know how long it's been in for.
