Out: unknown oil but a motorcraft filter!
In: PP 5w30/ MC Filter

150,789 miles.

Also did intake manifold, transmission service with a new pan that has a drain plug, tune up and partial coolant change. His manifold was leaking bad definitely needed it!
I did the intake on my 99 right after I bought it. I went to change thermostat and the original all plastic intake cracked taking the thermostat bolts out. Not a bad job, but those rear crash bracket fasteners on the driver's side head were real fun to get to on the back side.

Ah yes, that crash bracket bolt is a bear! I ended up buying a 15 mm swiveling ratchet wrench that help out a lot but still difficult. This one went pretty smoothly until I dropped a washer in one of the openings on the aluminum crossover. Added two extra hours of work taking the manifold off fishing it out and putting it back together but thats how it goes sometimes 🤦

Out: Supertech 0w20 SP, Wix Filter, 2925 miles severe duty 90% towing
In: Total Quartz 5w30 Long Life SN, Champ P968XL filter

I will be doing a wix UOA on the supertech. I'm out of wix filters, and will not hesitate to buy more if the price is right. I will be doing a wix VOA on the Total Quartz to see what Long Life means. I havent scoured the russian club forum to see if its already there, but its still fun to contrast even if it is.

So the MC3 has an oxidation value of ~12 whereas the Long Life has an oxidation of ~20.
Also the Long Life lacks Mg and has elevated B levels.
