Did this oil change two days ago.

Yeah I'm crazy. 0w20 in a 3.5 Ecoboost.

Next oil will be Mobil 1 EP 0w20.

I keep my OCI at around 3k-5k miles, just because I don't mind doing oil changes this often and who cares. 🤷‍♂️

wow 7-8 years and only 3k miles.

i have just now discovered that the pathfinder for a short time had the 5.6L v8 as an option....... I thought you could only get it with the v6 like the 4.0 at the time... A 5.6L v8 in a little pathfinder? why? I never even knew that.
Yeah its pretty awesome. :D
It debuted as the same time as the 2008 gas crises so nearly all V8s made are 2008s ordered in late 07 and early 08, and the dealers simply ordered very very few of them after the initial start.

But its some V8 too:

32 valve DOHC
Closed Deck
Titanium valves
Factory Molybdenum steel sleeves
forged, not just the crankshaft, but pistons and rods too
6 bolt mains.
Everything microfinished.

Some of the rest of drive train upgraded to match the Titan/Armada.
Allmode 4x4, with 2WD, Auto, 4Hi and 4lo setting.

and a couple of things I am forgetting.

I flew and then drove halfway across the country, to buy one the exact color combo and configuration (all mode 4WD, Sunroof, Bose, Gunmetal on Charcoal leather) I wanted as V8 4x4.
Despite being in perfect tune (and chirping my wheels at will), its a guzzler.
Other than that its the perfect car.

I bought it for a song because it was a bit neglected (other than drivetrain which was well maintained,) but I put the money into it to get it perfectly sorted, except for some fairly minor cosmetic flaws.
GX470/460, who?

I was going to give the wife's 4Runner an oil change today, but I decided to check the dipstick on my 2007 Tacoma while I was at it.

I don't check it that often because it doesn't have a history of using oil.

Last change was in June 2021, at 238,361 miles, with a blend of about half M1 Annual Performance and half M1 Extended Performance 5W-30, so it had about 8000 miles on the OCI (I picked up over 20 quarts of the M1-AP for 2 bucks a quart back in the Fall 2019 Auto Zone clearance - mostly 0W-20, but also some 5W-30). This was the last of my M1-AP 5W-30.

It was about half a quart low, and, since I've been in the habit lately of changing the oil every 10,000 miles, and I was already at 8000, it made more sense to go ahead and change it early, instead of adding half a quart and then changing it in 2000 more miles.

Using half a quart over 10 months and 8000 miles of mainly higher-speed expressway driving isn't excessive usage, by a long shot, but I decided to eschew my normal oil that I've been using in this truck since about 70,000 miles (it's never had anything but M1 in the crankcase - I bought the truck new in June 2007 and started it off with vanilla M1 and the old M1 Truck & SUV formula, and eventually started using EP exclusively), and pour in some of the M1-ESP 0W-30 that I got at AAP on sale for $28/jug. I figured it would be a good fit since it's thicker, the truck is using a little bit, and we're going into summer (it was a pleasant 85*F today here).

Used a Fram Ultra.

I'll monitor the level on the dipstick to see if this ESP slows down consumption a bit.

Next weekend, the 2021 4Runner will get what I'd originally planned to put in the Tacoma - M1-EP 10W-30.

2017 Sonata 2.4 w/ 41k miles

On trip to Va, had a loss of 2qts conventional and carbon/burn on oil cap, slight sludge/burn on dipstick…
PCV changed and had no “clanking”. Filter had thickened pudding/slime when turned upside down and drained, wife swears she had oil changed at inspection….
Peace of mind got a 1k mile run on edge w/ 1qt MMO…. At this point, just hoping to keep it from grenading….
Coworker is amsoil dealer and sells to fellow FF at cost…

Out: Castrol edge 5W-30 w/ 1qt MMO
Off: Carquest premium

In: Amsoil SS 5W-30
On: Amsoil ea15k20

Edit: Always had 31mpg highway, knew something was off when I-95 at 80-85mph was showing 27-28mpg but figured fuel quality or warmer ambient…. Should’ve known….
