Just picked this Yukon up a few weeks ago. Dealer said they had the oil changed but I just don’t trust anyone else to change my oil. I’m particular about my maintenance so for my peace of mind, I went ahead and picked up the oil and filter today at Wally world and changed it. Hoping to get as many miles as possible on this bad boy before I have to replace any of the original drivetrain.

That about 1/4 of what a GM Stealership would charge you!

Tell me about it. They don’t touch our vehicles, not even my wife’s ‘21 Acadia. They gave us like 3 free oil changes when we bought it, and I told my wife when we walked out of there that it would never be back up there unless it needs warranty work. I do all of our maintenance and if there’s something I don’t have the tools or time to repair, I’ve got a real good buddy of mine who’s a fantastic mechanic.

2014 Jeep GC limited. 0W-20 Kirkland full synthetic with a Mobil 1 extended performance filter. I will run this oil for 5,000 miles and replace the oil again when it hits 10,000 miles. I will replace the filter at 10,000 miles. I used the mighty vac to vacuum out the old oil. I really don't worry about cracking the filter housing on the Jeep. These filters on top are so nice and easy to change. The old oil and filter still looked great but I like keeping my engines clean.

I was not happy with the oil condition. Dark and smelly even though the OLM said 45% oil life remaining. We will see how M1EP holds up at 5,000 miles. If it stays cleaner, I might extend to 7,500 interval. My concerns are to keep the cylinder deactivation passages clean and minimize timing chain wear.

Easy oil change, didn't even jack it up. The filter is mounted vertically right in front of the oil pan. Probably the tightest factory drain plug I've ever dealt with.

The FoMoCo filter felt flimsy. When I tried to undo it by hand I was able to flex the filter walls. I wasn't able to do that on the Ultra. Plenty of sparkles in the drain pan but I don't allow myself to overanalyze on a first change. Got (3) 5 quart jugs of Castrol on sale for $50 on Amazon so I'm set for a while.

Notes: at 5,xxx miles the oil was BLACK. The recommended service interval is 10,000.... really... on synthetic blend??? NO WAY!
Not for a car I plan on driving every day, and then giving to my oldest kid to drive in 7 ish years.

Unfortunately I was unable to collect a sample of the Napa syn blend from this change interval due to the dealer service.
