Out whatever bulk from Midas shop where he lives and cheap oil filter. He gets their 19.95 special.

In 5w20 Supertech conventional oil and Supertech S16 filter. I'm betting that whatever came out and off may not be as good as what went in and on.

Not sure the milage but he and his wife can now finish the road trip from Illinois to California and back with some fresh oil.

Are they taking Route 66 ? Or did the Interstate end that route?

Drained Schaeffer's 9000 5w30 after near exactly 5,000 mi. (intended to do 7,500 like last time) because it's been short tripped a lot lately and I opted back to cheaper Valvoline full syn that'll get changed every 5K just to make sure the engine stays clean. Delco filter in and out. Gonna send in a UOA just for curiosity's sake.

Replaced with Subaru synthetic 5W-30 and "blue" Subaru oil filter.

Once complimentary oil changes are finished, I will be switching to 5W-30 in either Royal Purple or Pennzoil Platinum.

I will most likely stick to this oil because it's the cheapest I can find that has the Porsche C30 VW504/507 approval.

This is the most annoying car to work on for oil changes. After unscrewing the oil filter housing, you have to remove the oil filter from the housing and pull them down 1 at a time. This is because the oil filter housing is too big unless it's rotated to fit through a hole with the axle in the way. Oil dumps everywhere.

Oil in the pan is easy after I put a fumoto on during its first oil change.
