FINALLY! After pleading for many moons. I was able to convince my friend, who only services his vehicle at the dealership, and on the vehicle maint schedule. To step up to six month oil changes instead of yearly. To promote engine health and longevity!

I had to sweeten the deal and tell him the first change was on me all OEM. Secret is, I LOVE DOING OIL Changes.

2017 Tacoma TRD PRO Manual
OUT: Toyota Bulk Dealer 0W20 and YZZA1 OEM Oil Filter.
IN: 5.9L of TGMO 0W20, and a YZZA1 Oil Filter.

Was a blast, I didn't drain the oil filter housing, and instead tried the freezer size zip lock bag method. Worked like a charm very pleased with the outcome.

Good day to you gentlemen, and ladies.

Can't say that I am familiar with this, can you please expand on what the "zip lock bag method" is? Thanks.

You take an over sized freezer ziplock bag. After you have loosened the filter housing to the point you can hand loosen it. You put the ziplock over the filter housing and continue to turn. I didn't spill a drop and it went into the lose oil went into drain pain and the ziplock into thegarbage. Very clean and very happy with it.

I think he's saying that he didn't bother using the drain valve on the Toyota housing and just cracked the housing loose then held a ziplock bag around it when unscrewing the housing like some people do with spin-ons to avoid the mess.

So you convinced him to waste money on extra oil changes based on what exactly?

^^^ Lots of fuel dilution in xW-20 isn't a good thing.
Now that the engine is worn in I anticipate less fuel dilution. Now that may be foolish - our fuelish - on my part depending on the mechanism.
If its a problem again I will go to the dealer - who has been completely unconcerned so far.
If they don't want to take up the issue - I will just spin a bearing under warranty.

Drum brakes all around? I did the brakes on our '65 4-4-2 with some "special" shoes that were supposed to offer better bite and ability to shed heat better. I would love to convert the fronts to discs but then the car would be less original. And the 14" steel wheels would not fit.
Drum brakes all around, manual. Manual steering, 283 4 barrel with a Powerglide. 14" steel wheels, 4 door post. Real pretty butternut yellow color.
