Out Valvoline Synpower 5W-20 WIX Filter with 7,000 mile OCI
In Valvoline Synpower 5W-20 with Motorcraft Filter

Comments: I had run 5W-30 the entire life of this engine. I had 4- 5+ quart bottles of Synpower laying around so I decided to give it a try through the fall and winter months. The motor used perhaps 2 quarts of makeup oil over the first 4,000 miles. Oil level stayed full over the remaining 3,000 miles. Engine is running smooth and quiet.

out: 5w-20 castrol syntec

in: Mobil 1 5w-20 and 4 oz of redline zppd additive, should bring the Zn ppm levels up to about 12-1300.

I used the Castrol only because I got it on a really good clearance deal. I wont be using it again. The motor was noisy and it is the only time the car has ever consumed oil. I've always had bad luck with Castrol products.

Michigan had a nice day Saturday and I replaced the original serpentine belt. It was stretched 1.5 inches!

Out: QS Defy and Purolator Classic. It was a short 2 month OCI as I didn't like the extra noise I was getting at start up.

In: 3.5 qts PP 5-30 & 2 quarts QS Defy 5-30 and a ACDelco PF-61e

The mixed batch was to use up what I had on hand.

Did two today.

1.)My brothers 2006 Honda Accord 2.4L, This OCI was with 30% left on the OLM, but around 9,000 kms from the last one.

OUT: Wix 51334 and Mannheim Synthetic 5W30
IN: Wix 51334 and Pennzoil Platinum 5W30

2.)My friends 2008 M-Benz C300 Sport. This OCI was 10,400km since the last one.

OUT: Mann HU7185X filter, Mannheim Synthetic 5W40
IN: Mann HU7185X filter, Mannheim HiTec 3000 Synthetic 5W40

Now these Mannheim synthetics. I dont know who actually formulates these for Mannheim. The brand Mannheim is through a local VW/Audi parts store Frisco.

The Mannheim synthetics that came out of both vehicles, the bottles had "Made in Italy". The stuff that the Benz got today had "Made in The Netherlands".

Ive been using the Mannheim 5W20 or 5W30 in my brothers Honda for at least the last 6-7 oil changes. He usually goes up to or surpasses 10,000kms between changes. However, I decided to switch things up a little use the Pennzoil Platinum instead this time around.
