2025 Nissan Sentra 2.0 @ 9400 miles

Out- NAPA 0W-20/NAPA Gold 1358 (7700 miles)

In- Valvoline Hybrid 0W-20 / FRAM Drive FD6607
(Advance auto clearance items)

I haven't treated this car the way I had planned. I went 1700 on factory fill, which isn't all bad but way more than I wanted to. I then went 7700 on the next oci. Just crazy busy with life and kept letting it go. It remained full on the dipstick throughout.

I put in a magnetic drain plug (Votex) when I drained the factory oil and at the end of 7700 miles it had just a tiny dab of gray sludge. I think it'll be fine.

2019 Mustang GT 67.5k miles

Out: Mobil 1 15w-50 w/ Fram Ultra Synthetic filter

In: Mobil 1 Advanced Clean 0w-20 w/ CarQuest EP filter

Finally got a day warm enough where I felt ok firing up the Mustang to get the summer oil out. I wasn’t planning on using Advanced Clean but with $30 back in AAP store credit I figured why not.

Whoa that’s a big difference in viscosity from summer to winter. Have you always done this? Moving forward you might want to just pick a good 0w-40 and run that all year round.

50 weight is my goto track oil, and that’s why the 15w-50 originally went in. The planned track day fell though and it seemed silly to drain it so I ended up putting 4k miles on the car while the weather was still warm. Aside from the sump temp going up 5 degrees F and the warm idle oil pressure being a bit higher the engine wasn’t acting any differently so I went with it. It will be interesting to see what the analysis results come back looking like.

I didn’t drive it much through the fall and also wasn’t paying close attention to the weather so the thick oil was still in there when the cold snap hit. The engine has spent most of its life with 20 weight oil in it so this 0w-20 is fine for the winter.

If Mobil 1 ESP x4 0w-40 is as shear stable as LSjr showed x3 to be that could be a true year round track day through winter night oil. Most 50 weights shear down to a 40 and that’s been fine for me so far at the track. Something to try at some point.

1 qt or 5 qt bottle? Is the oil fill port hole as small as a 1 qt bottle opening?
It's a 1 qt Mobil 1 Truck and SUV bottle with the bottom cut off. I don't know if all Mobil 1 bottles are this size but this one threads in and seals almost as well as the funnels designed for this purpose; i was able to pour fast with no leakage. Most other brands' 1 qt bottles are too small.

I think all the Mobil 1 bottles have been the wide mouth type for a number of years now. I went to replace the ancient spare bottle I never used in my Mercedes makeup oil bag and it the silver Mobil 1 bottles don't fit. I put Pennzoil of the proper spec in the zipper bag.
