How many consecutive OCIs have you run M1 HM 5w-30 with that lifter tick?
Just one. Now on the second.

I’ve tried m1 0w40 for 4 consecutive oci’s (each with about 2.5-3k miles) right before I got the first m1 5w30 hm. The m1 0w40 did not help with the noise at all.

But using m1 5w30 HM with MMO for 2k miles got rid of the noise. I’m gonna say it was entirely MMO that fixed the issue.

Thats some thickie for that 5.3!!! Curious Is there reason for that weight?? High miles or lifter/camshaft issues??
LS and their derivatives love 15w40. It's all I run in my own 5.3. I run Swepco 306 but there's lots of good 15w40s out there. Almost any higher mileage one is going to leak some from the oil pan gasket, my experience is the 40wt leaks significantly less, and I run mine for 8-10k or one year. Consumption is negligible.

VERY NICE SIR!!! I dont get "deals" on diesel oil so I used up the rest of my Pennzoil full syn 10W-40 on my last OCI and going to run Valvoline 10W-40 maxlife blend during hot months in Texas. Fall/Winter going to run either Chevron 400XLE 10W30 or Pennzoil platinum 10W-30 😎 (y)

or my special stash of M1 5W-40 ???

Anything to help the stupid lifter tick that just started??? :censored: :(

Try either the Delo or the Mobil 1.

2017 Hyundai Elantra daughter college car leaving next weekend a little over 2 hour ride from home about 90k miles on car. Out Valvoline white bottle 5/30 about 4k miles down 1/2 qt OE filter. In dad special blend of 2 qts of Mobil syn and 2 qts of Ace hardware Dino all 5/30 SP and OE filter. With the dad special blend I have 4 qts Mobil syn for the December oil change when she's on winter break the Mobil was a 6qt case from BJ's I caught on sale. Car takes 4.2 qts of oil topped off with Valvoline 5/30 white bottle leftover from last change

I hope Dad has taught Daughter how to check oil level and, if needed, add oil with the quart that dad stashed in the trunk!

Pennz platinum 10W-30
Delo 400XLE Blend 10W-30
Mobil 1 5W-40
Valvoline maxlife blend 10W-40

What I have in my stash. These are my options ;)
If I'm not mistaken the Maxlife has a decent amount of moly so it would probably be a good choice as well. I'd probably still lean toward the Delo or Mobil 1 for extended interval capability, although the Maxlife should be a good 5-6k mile oil. These are just my opinions however.

Not to brag or "trigger" anyone. But I have enough oil(Stash) to do 500 mile OCI's on my 7 vehicles for the next several years lol ;)

But with Texas heat,+1-2 hot idle hours in a parking lot while I do paperwork/laptop use........ I do religious 3K OCI's

And YES!!! I also have heard that Valvoline Maxlife has high moly!!! Good catch sir!! (y) 😎
