I found that the larger diameter 3593A does not fit as well as the smaller diameter 6607/7317 sized filter.
The 3593A presses on a oil line. It does not rub, so won't be an issue running it this time, but I will not be using the remaining 3593A's that I have on this bike.
I can use those on other vehicles I have though.
I will probably just get a TG7317 (same diameter as the 6607, but a little longer), unless the Napa Platinum 41356 goes on sale for 1/2 price, then I will get a few of those instead.

2014 Triumph Tiger 800XC

Miles on Oil: 13,570 - 11,045 = 2,525
Hours on oil: 60
Out: 3qt Delvac 1300 15W-40 + 1.5oz Lubegard Bio-tech + 1.5 oz TB Zinc Plus
In: 3qt Delvac 1300 15w-40 + 1qt Mobil1 V-twin 20w50
Off: Fram TG6607
On: Triumph OEM filter (given from PO)

Not too interested in running this filter for more than 1 OCI. Currently plan on going to XG6607 filters in the future.
The Mobil1 V-twin should bring the phosphorous up for this blend to roughly 1000ppm and should prop up the HTHS.

Apologies for a question in this thread however a little over 3 quarts was removed and 4 quarts was put back. Even with a filter change that seems like a big difference? V-Twin 20w50 will prop any oil up, it’s stout stuff, in the best of ways.

Yeah, so there was actually about half a quart leftover of VR1 from the previous oil change, where I didn't replace the oil filter. I also added a half a quart of Rotella T4, mistakenly thinking that the bike had consumed some oil. Really, 4 quarts came out in the oil change--this is just my habit of writing and tracking in the OC threads. I suppose I could've said "+1 quart of prior mixes" or something like that.

had to change my username due to password mitigation issues...I have posted here as kmrcstintn in the past; 2020 was a wierd year & my usual routine of 2 oil changes each season was not done this year;

I put the moto (lightly used 2014 Yamaha V Star 250) up for storage without changing since I rode less than 1000 miles with the 'frankenbrew' (leftover 10w-40's & 15w-40's reinforced with Amsoil synthetic 15w-40 -- ck-4 rated) and a Fram CH6004 filter (spring oil change);

I put the scoot (leftover 2013 Genuine Buddy 125) up for storage with an oil change...Castrol GTX 10w-40 without changing the filter; previous oil change was done in the spring with Amsoil synthetic 15w-40 -- ck-4 rated and a HiFlo Filtro HF183 filter; I ended up topping off with SuperTech 10w-30 lawnmower oil after realizing I underfilled during the spring; total mileage on the spring oil change was 1000-1500 miles so I left the filter in place

Out: whatever 10 year old danky fill that was in there and a K&N.

In: Rotella 15W-40, Hiflo HF303 filter. Future changes will use the same filter as a Frontier QR25DE that the owner’s mom drive, a PH6607 or equivalent.

I did an oil change on both bikes a month ago using half Rotella T4 15w40 and half Rotella T6 15w40. This homemade blend provides good shift quality (T4) and longer oil life (T6). Both bikes run standard paper oil filters, Tusk or HiFlo, which are changed about every 3 oil drains -- the manuals provide capacities for periodic oil changes (oil only) and other capacities for oil and filter change. Plus both bikes run magnetic drain plugs. Plus, oil filters still look totally new after a single service interval, no discernible loading of the filter media whatsoever, and never had an issue leaving the filter for 3 service intervals. Meth.
The Honda XR400R takes 2 quarts and the Yamaha WR450F takes about 24 ounces (700 ml). The Yamaha is much more highly tuned yet has less than half the oil capacity of the Honda? Hmmm. It's based on the YZF race bike which gets serviced after every race (or should be) so that kinda makes sense. But also, the Honda is air cooled and runs significantly hotter, so there's a reason for larger capacity. The Yamaha oil is serviced about every 8-10 hours while the Honda gets oil service around 15 hours.

Just to clarify T6 15W40 is not a typo (vs T6 5w40), in the sense T6 in 15w40 should not give up anything to T4 15w40 in shifting. For sure T6 15w40 would probably have better longevity, however longevity in a dirtbike (or street bike) typically that has to do with shift quality giving up well before the oil is used up with respect to protecting the engine, especially with the shorter OCI’s you run in those How about T5 15w40, I realize it does not have proper nomenclature on the bottle with respect to what some folks would say for a motorcycle however I have run it in my shared sump ZRX1200. It holds up well in analysis (stayed in grade) and shifting stayed consistent over 3,200 miles.

In any case, it is working well for you but wanted to clarify.

Yeah I saw the T5 but wonder why Shell doesn't say it meets the specs for MA/MA2. The T4 and T6 are not tested or certified for the JASO MA specs -- none of the Rotellas are -- but at least Shell says the T4 and T6 meet the performance specs. So that's why I haven't used T5. Glad you had good experience with it though :)

Other than my experience being fine with T5, you are correct, why doesn’t Shell say it meets the specs just like they say for T4 and T6.

I look back at T4 it was used for millions and millions and millions of miles and motorcycles before it ever had a rating without issues so I am going to believe based on analysis there is no magic pixie dust in T5 that would cause an issue.
With that said I used it one time and moved on to try a different oil. I’ve pretty much settled on M1 motorcycle specific oils. They just flat get it done when it comes to running a 5000 mile OCI. In your situation I like what you are doing because of the more frequent oil change intervals.
