Post Your Latest (Motorcycle) Oil Change!

Yeah I saw the T5 but wonder why Shell doesn't say it meets the specs for MA/MA2. The T4 and T6 are not tested or certified for the JASO MA specs -- none of the Rotellas are -- but at least Shell says the T4 and T6 meet the performance specs. So that's why I haven't used T5. Glad you had good experience with it though :)

The T6 in 15w-40 meets JASO MA / MA2 specs. I currently use it in my Victory 106 with great results. I'll be posting a UOA later.

I am using both Rotella T4 15w40 and Rotella T6 15w40 in my dirt bikes because the label says it meets the requirements of JASO MA/MA2.
The Rotella T5 label does not say the same.
I have an honest question out of curiosity... How many years were guys using T4 back in the day before it had a label?

Myself, zero. Before I discovered the JASO MA/MA2 language on the Rotella label, I used only Maxima SynBlend4 10w40 or Valvoline 4 stroke 10w40. I am not in the habit of experimenting with oils, but at the same time I knew there must be a better option than $8/quart motorcycle oil for us casual riders, so I kept looking and eventually found Rotella.

Just like the T5, other diesel oils and Castrol GTX, many people currently use them even if it doesn’t show JASO MA.

This drain had about 400 miles of mixed fire roads and hard single track off-road riding. Oil was dark but not nasty, still felt smooth and very slippery. Hardly any ferrous goop on the magnetic drain plugs (one on frame reservoir and one on engine case).
Checked the spark plug and cleaned the air filter while I was at it :D

How are you liking that KLX? There’s a thread just below this one about the new KLX, just curious what your first impressions are. https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/2021-kawasaki-klx300sm.340818/
I really love the bike. It is smooth, the brakes are excellent, the clutch is easy to work, the grips are nice, has a nice helmet lock from the factory, sips gas, and is fun to ride around for hours on end. Only mod I made was to cut the rear fender down. First bike I ever owned that I didn't immediately start changing stuff, it is pretty well sorted straight from the factory.

Great picture you took of the bike in the other thread, it’s a good looking one!
