Post Your Latest (Motorcycle) Oil Change!

2007 Honda VTX 1300R 61,000 miles on bike

Only 2,000 miles on oil in almost a year and a half. I normally average 4,500 - 5,000 miles a year.

I use Mobil Delvac 1300 Super too, got the latests batch from Sams club for $28 for a box of 4 gallons, im good for the next 50,000 miles I bought 16 gallons! Just changed the oil on my 2009 klr 650 only 28k on the clock I have another with 84k, I used an EMGO filter. I can start feeling the transmission shifty clunkier at about 2000 miles, usually changed before 3000, im at $6 for an oil change including the filter because I bought them in but too. $15 a quart motorcycle specific oil is pretty much normal oil just without the friction modifiers same as the diesel oil for a fraction of the cost! I did run T-6 in my Tenere.

yea I just watched a Fortnite video and he tested new oil in new bikes and the Chinese brand was off the charts filled with yuk, second worst was Italian bikes, then Harley, then Japanese bikes, the cleanest was Royal Enfield from India, gotta say that was a shock.

Myself, zero. Before I discovered the JASO MA/MA2 language on the Rotella label, I used only Maxima SynBlend4 10w40 or Valvoline 4 stroke 10w40. I am not in the habit of experimenting with oils, but at the same time I knew there must be a better option than $8/quart motorcycle oil for us casual riders, so I kept looking and eventually found Rotella.
I used t-4 a lot and t-6 in "newer" bikes but I switched to Mobil Delvac 1300 super because I got it for $1.75 a quart the high dollar motorcycle oil doesn't have friction modifiers, nevertheless does diesel oil.

So lads, how does your oil look in your bikes after some mileage or right before oil change? Mine is like this after 2000 km, i changed oil this april right at the start of the season and now it looks like this. Bike in question is Kawasaki ZZR600 E9 running recommended viscosity of 10W-40 Mobil Delvac full synth oil. Fun fact, the dealer which changed my tires recently gave me a concerned call about the oil when the bike was in the shop, claiming my oil was filthy and needed a change.

Yea it’s fine, there is always a little left over in the motor after the change and it mixes up and it’s darker, some oil is darker than others new, I wouldn’t go by the color so much unless your motor isn’t getting hot enough or it’s getting gas in the crankcase. Go by the distance or time usually once a year, as for the distance you can read about that till the cows come home on this site. Think of the sight glass as a tool to check the level not so much the color.

The sight glass on my ST1300 is darker than that after 2000 miles. I typically run the oil until 5000 miles.
My NC700X oil looks clean after 5000 miles, almost like I could put it back in the bottle and sell it.
Different engines. Different colors of oil. I don't loose any sleep over it.

2016 Yamaha WR450F, 8.5 run hours on this service interval
Out: 0.8 qt. Rotella T6 15w40 synthetic
In: 0.4 qt Yamalube 10w40 synthetic + 0.4 qt Rotella T6 15w40 synthetic

Drained oil was fairly dark but had good flow and lubricity. 8-10 run hours seems to be a good service interval for this bike with the small capacity.

2003 Honda XR400R, approx 16 hours on this service interval

Oil was not very dark, seems I could have gone 4-5 more hours *maybe* ... but this air-cooled engine runs hot and oil color is not always a good gauge for oil condition.

Mine is an 02 XR650R with all the go-fast goodies. Last change; Petro-Canada Produro SAE 30. Yes it's a 20w30 Cat TO-4 drivetrain oil.

A little late in posting this.....

2016 Honda VFR1200X, 13,000 miles

Rotella T5 10w30, Bosch Filter

Then I rode to Sturgis and back, 1,400 miles.

The T5 10w30 is fantastic and the shifting is smooth.
