The 2005 Ford Taurus happened to have a cabin air filter. While removing a section of the cowl to get at the rear bank of sparkplugs on the sideways V-6, I decided to change the filter. It’s a Fram filter with charcoal. I suspect that’s forest fire ash from last summer. Enjoy.

2001 BMW E39 540 M-Sport 375,000 miles. I change this Hengst engine air filter every 15k since they are so cheap (around $10). They are rarely very dirty. I think the factory recommended change interval is 30k miles.

Aren’t you worried about changing it so often and actually allowing more dirt to get into the engine? An air filter gets more efficient with more dirt trapped on them, plus every time you open up the air box you run the risk of introducing more dirt into the engine as well. I still haven’t changed the original air filter on my Corvette yet, it’s at just under 107,000 km right now. I’m going to have it changed in the next couple of weeks though.

Nope. I have owned this car basically since new, and this regimen has clearly had no negative effect. 375,000 miles and does not consume any oil of note. Never been rebuilt.

I put a new Motomaster air filter in my 2016 Civic this afternoon. These are Canadian Tire’s house brand but made by Fram. The filter had 92,547 km on it

That is the dirty side. Old one still looks good, no tear on the gasket and rubber is still soft. The Denso is a pure paper construction. No rubber gasket and center support.

I’m currently at the Chevy dealer having my air filter and cabin filter changed for the first time in my Corvette. It has 107,320 km on it. I really should have done these a couple of years ago when it was at around 80,000
