Ram 2500 NV273 Transfer Case Fluid change.

38,944 miles on this change.

Out: two quarts Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF
In: two quarts Redline D4 ATF
Any issues with the Mobil 1 ATF for transfer case use - seems like a bargain at the right viscosity and Grp4/Grp3 mix

No, everything seemed fine. I’d run it again.
Got to looking and this Mobil 1 ATF is becoming very hard to find - but what was interesting is that the replacement has gone Grp3 only - yet carries a long list of recommendations much like Valvoline does …
(Guessing some wiz-bang add packs) …
However, looking for 3 year runs in TC’s - got a six pack of the Grp3/Grp4 Mobil 1MV-ATF …

I had a hard time finding it on the shelf during my last change as well.
I ended up using Redline D4 ATF, chemical properties were similar on paper. It's been fine, no issues using it.

Did the transfer case fluid in a 2008 3/4 ton Burb with a Magna Powertrain auto trac.

Out: 1.5 liters AC Delco Auto Trak II
In: the same.

My GM printout based on the VIN calls for Auto Trak II. I’ve been ruining it for 18 years, changing every two years. Here’s some pics. Enjoy.

Remind me to clean the garage. Auto Trac II has a blue color and is nicknamed Smurf Fluid. The stuff coming out was still blue, but darker. There was some metal on the magnet but nothing compared to when I used to tow.

2020 5th gen Ram 1500, 163,000km. Front diff: out came some sort of unknown grey oil. In went group 4 Co-op Gear Oil SL.
Rear: out came out was an unknown brown oil. Not as bad as I figured so likely changed at some point before us. In went the same Co-op oil.

Did it take more than 6 quarts?

No but surprisingly it took 3.2L (3.4qt) to fill the rear end despite the owners manual saying 3.6-3.75L and Amsoil's site saying 4.6L (8 pints).
May have to drive it around and check it again.

Oops, forgot the new generation started in 22. It sometimes takes more if filled on the ground vs. stands.

2023 Mazda CX5 turbo...front transfer case and rear differential...Mazda says lifetime fluid but at 45,000 miles I decided to change it. took 1 Qt for both so not much capacity....$35 a quart. super easy job. Mazda claims capacity is 0.48 qts and recommends filling to the brim of the fill plug. I got quite a bit out on the factory fill. I bought two qts just in case but only took one qt.
Not much on the magnets and fluid looked pretty good for 45000 miles.

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 83,000km, diffs and TC. Out was likely factory fill. Nothing looked horrible.

Diffs got Co-op Gear oil SL, group 4 based 75w90.

The TC got mostly a litre of Co-op ATF SL and the remaining whatever it took, was Maxlife.

2018 Suburban.
Out: Valvoline synthetic 75W-90.
In: Valvoline 80W-90 conventional, no friction modifiers.

I swapped the G80 to a Truetrac (helical) when I regeared this truck. It calls for conventional, installer used synthetic, caused a bit of chatter.

Swapped to conventional fluid, immediately cured the chatter.

Literally a week later…axle seal is now leaking 🙄
