post your latest differential fluid change

Changed the gear oil in two of my trucks this week.

2022 F350 6.7 4x4, installed PPE covers on both axles and changed the factory fluid at 35k.
-Front Dana 60 (limited slip) got 3.25 quarts of Valvoline Advanced 75w-90 with 3 ounces of XL-3.
-Rear Dana M275 got 4.5 quarts of Schaeffer’s Extreme Performance 75w-140.

2009 F150 5.4 4x4, removed covers and changed the factory fluid in both at 35k (yes, 35,000 miles).
-Front differential carrier got 1.8 quarts of Valvoline Advanced 75w-90.
-Rear Ford 9.75 got 2.75 quarts of HPL Differential Life 75w-110.

Wow that's low miles on the '09, extra vehicle?

Out - Factory
In - Valvoline Synthetic 75W90

The stuff I sucked out was pretty dang grungy, but then again, 4500 out of those 10,000 initial miles was towing 6600#'s, so that gear should be good and broken in by now.

Also drained and filled the T-Case. Used Maxlife, just because it says its good for Mercon LV and I have a 20qt box on hand.

2016 ram 1500 .... big horn
OUT .... royal purple max gear 75/140. Changed at 80k

IN..... 75/140. royal purple max gear .......I was looking into the new valvoline extended protection but the specs are almost identical and I've been running RP since 10k......... mileage 120k

1997 4Runner

Out: unknown, didn’t look bad. Not much fuzz on the drain plug.

In: 1qt. Lucas 75w-90, 2 qts. Lucas 80w-90.

Drain plug came out without much heartache, fill plug not so much. I’ll need to get a new one, but for today, I was able to get it loose with a 10-lb sledge and a breaker bar. I put it back on with a reasonable amount of torque.

Taking advantage of the HPL Black Friday sale, I ordered some 75w85 for my '22 Taco TRD OR. Even came with a nice HPL sticker! bonus 😉

First thing I noticed is that this stuff doesn't smell the same as most gear oil. It doesn't have that "gear oil bad smell". Drained and filled both differentials and now I have some peace of mind.

It still blows my mind that the rear electronic locking differential in my little Tacoma uses about 4 quarts of oil where my 5.7l 1500 Ram only holds about 2.5 quarts.

The front differential on both vehicles holds pretty much the same amount of oil. More oil capacity = better =
Toyota > Ram?? Lol

Did you notice a slight sluggish after using the 75W-90?
