Post Your Latest Coolant Change.

1997 Honda Accord got a new water pump and timing belt and a new radiator. Drained out old, unknown green (Universal? Asian vehicle? Honda Type 1?) antifreeze and filled with some variants of Asian Blue POAT. One gallon of filtered, used Subaru Super Coolant I saved from my mom's Subaru Outback, half a gallon of new Subaru Super Coolant RTU, and the rest is Peak OET Asian Blue concentrate.

I'll do another drain and fill eventually to clean out as much of the old stuff as I can.

2012 F150 3.7 NA. 208,000 unknown orange. I replaced belts, and all hoses. Pulled L side block plug and flushed rad, and heater core. I have a septic system so now coolant flush/changes get more complicated.

I used a vacuum filler I bought to fill with distilled water for a few drain/fills. I then pulled Amsoil ANT propylene glycol into the motor. I was trying to put in 60%, but fell a little short. I'll just use the remaining few cups of 100% ANT to use for top off.

Working on the 2016 Ford Focus 2.0 NA So I went about 106,000 miles, and about 8yrs. It had the original orange. I have added some of the Amsoil ANT over the years if the level dropped some. I was going to replace the coolant and T stat. Then I changed belts, hoses, water pump later. I had been meaning to change this coolant going back about 3 yrs.........😒
When I removed the T stat I noticed weeping. So I got the belts tensioner, water pump, and main rad hoses. I'll replace other hoses next time.
8.5 qt system, but I can get only 4 qts draining out. So I'm doing drain/fills with distilled water. I have done about 5 or so. I would like to get 5 qts out so I can put in 5 qts. I'm going to see if I can find a side block plug to pull some water out of the block. Otherwise I will be short of 50% ANT.
I also realized the ANT I used on the truck was close to 6 years old. I over bought. The Focus ANT is about 5 years old. I did notice a little additive drop out in the jugs for the Focus. A little bit of darker junk on the bottom. I think I'll run both vehicles about 3-4 years and change out the ANT again.

The Amsoil answer to my question on shelf life:

Thank you for the question. The Antifreeze and Coolant (ANT) will have a 5-year shelf life. What you are seeing is additive fallout. Over time this will start to happen but overall is not detrimental to use of the product if within the shelf life. However, you are approaching that shelf-life max.

I’ve always heard good things about the Zerex G-05 coolant - curious if it’s suitable for a Hyundai cooling system ?

Dropped just short of 2 gallons of the factory coolant out of the Ranger and refilled with self-mixed 50/50 Zerex Nitrate Free Extended Life Yellow.

Nice that you can by it concentrated and mix it yourself.

Little over 65k on the Ranger.

The air purge procedure is a bit stupid, but it works, and oddly they call for the same procedure whether you use a vacuum fill method or not (I did not).

New to me 05 Pontiac vibe, 154k miles. Unknown miles on old coolant but it looked clean. Drain and filled w distilled water 4x with driving and heater on in between drain/fills. Last one the water came out just about clear.
Out: Toyota pink
In: total capacity is 7qts, I put 3 quarts coolant and the rest distilled water for a 43/57 coolant to water ratio. That’s plenty good for southern CA.
