Post Your Latest CAF Change!

Wow!! How long and how many miles? You got your money’s worth out of that!!
Not sure honestly. I stupidly assumed it was changed before we bought it used with 13,000 miles. It only has 41,000 miles on it now. Most likely original filter 😬. Looked much worse then the air filter under the hood.

2020 Mazda CX5

Out: Generic CAF from Amazon (2 of 3)
In: Generic CAF from Amazon (3 of 3)

The filter has been in for 13 months and 11659 Miles. I changed it because I noticed during a drive today that the air flow from the AC was noticeably impeded. I would have sworn I changed this more recently, but it has been over a year and 10k miles. It was time to change it.

I've been happy with these, a year and 10k miles is plenty for a CAF considering all the crap that is in the area in and around STL. I'll have to see if the three-pack is still sold cheap on Amazon.

Its been 2 yrs/25k miles since I changed them out last.
Out: Mann 2x underhood/Corteco in cabin
In: same

Quite honestly, I could have probably left both in for same interval. Neither set was very dirty under sunlight inspection, especially the in cabin. It looked brand new essentially.

2024 GMC Sierra 1500. 29,000 miles
Out: OEM
In: Fram titanium - then out- then plain STP back in
Felt like the Fram was too restrictive. No real data to prove it, just felt that way. I'll put the Fram back for pollen season next spring.

No pics of new going in.

’21 Tucson – 26k on vehicle, maybe 15k miles/2 years on filter
Out - unknown from Indy shop but I remember we had to fix it and get the leaves out that fell in blower motor.
In- Puroma with activated charcoal same as finklejag used.

’10 Forte – 192k on vehicle, about 2.5 years on filter, also about 15k miles
Out -unknown possibly Fram from WM or something from RA. Wasn’t in my Amazon list
In – EPAuto – activated charcoal same as I use in a couple other vehicles.

2015 Volvo XC70.
~15k on filter. I've long been settled on 30k for both engine air and cabin air filters WHERE I LIVE.
I wanted to do this one as the previous owner wasn't local.

OUT: Hengst
Twas dull grey overall, heavily sprinkled with unfamiliar, 1.5mm, round, ivory/yellow-colored seeds + brown leaf bits. Pretty dirty.
It resembled the Tucson filter above...just add the seeds.

IN: Mann CUK2733.
Airflow sure seemed better....but we all know...!

NOTE 1: The previous filter was installed backwards as the arrow was pointed at the dirt, not into the cabin. Not a shocker.
I installed the replacement correctly.

NOTE 2: This is the first time I experienced a "bunch it up and let it expand in place", filter.
It was difficult-to-access. Videos advised softening the edges by compressing it lengthwise.
Getting it started is the hardest part. You work it in with your fingers and it obediently proceeded down its slot.
CAFs for this application are observably hearty and very well-constructed. I'm surprised they're regularly priced.

Ha-I'll see what I find on Walmart's shelves. I would never buy a cheaper substitute for this application.

So... no change yet, it's only got 500 miles on it, but my new '25 Camry makes this SOOOOO easy.

I can't even tell you how many vehicles I've owned that made something simple like the cabin air filter a whole process and even when you do get to the filter location the fitment is terrible!

Not the Camry. Open the glove box and it's staring at you. No need to remove the glove box, or half the dash, or anything other than the little flap with clips on it and done!

Also, there is a filter under the back seat drivers side now too for the Hybrid battery blower motor. Just a simple mesh screen. Eventually if I make it far enough into ownership, like around 100k, I might rip it all apart to inspect the blower motor and clean it just for something to do ;)

Is it a mesh screen you blow out or rinse with water or does it get replaced?

Just blow it out, wipe it down and put it back. Not really a "filter", more of a screen, but it's better than previous models that didn't have anything or from my limited research, if they did, it wasn't easy to get to.

Just replaced the Bosch CAF in my 18 Legacy with a PureFlow HEPA PC5667HX. The Bosch looked to be in good condition. First time trying the Pureflow. We'll see how it works.

another Honda oem filter in my Si. stunk from delivering pizzas in my car with recirculate on. usually i turn it off to keep fresh air coming in but 115 degree heat index calls for desperate measures. mine looked pretty much exactly like Deamo's pic.

Bought car a year ago 2019 Sonata with 22K mi. Don’t know when it was last changed. Just checked after 12K mi and it was dirty with leaves. I basically view it as a “screen”, so I go cheap. Also, the higher filtering capacity (MRV rating), the more restrictive it is🤷. Installed STP from Autozone

2018 Lexus Rx 350 that i have owned for 22 months, during our trip to Myrtle beach this summer, the AC smelled a little moldy. Went to walmart and grabbed a supertech CAF, replaced it in the parking garage in about 10 minutes. The old one was really clogged up, the smell is now gone and the air blows a little more now.

Spearhead Oder eliminator Filter...It effectively removes all of those farm smells on hot days here in Iowa. Highway road Kill, skunks and old animal carcasses on the roadside too. Great filter!!
