Did rear brake pads (no rotors) on my 2011 RX 350 with Bosch Quiet Cast $34 on Amazon (pads are very small!). Basically a pad slap but new clips, wire brushed dust/rust off contact points and lubed slide pins.

Caliper pins were dry and crusty and were not moving freely but the brakes had worn relatively evenly (slightly more worn on outer than inner). They were down to under 2mm and the car braked perfectly well with no noise or wobbles.

After reassembly the slide pins were moving nicely and everything seemed to fit well.

I put the squealers on the outside pads despite conventional wisdom because the set I took off did wear a bit faster on the outer pads.

Drove it a bit and did 10 or so semi aggressive decelerations from 35mph to bed them in. Brakes feel fine so far.

1st time I messed with brakes so it was slow with a few hiccups but I’d rate jt as a success. Fronts look to be around 4mm so I’ll be doing those pretty soon.

Replaced front brake pads only. The old pads had about 4mm material remaining but i couldn't wait to get rid of the noisy, dirty pads. They worked really well though; hopefully the new ones will work half as well.

Which model DFC pads? Did they have the 1551 prefix?

They were model 1311-1521-01.

I assumed they were nothing special for $40. They actually did a great job of stopping in high demand situations (mountains, towing, etc) but i hated the dust and noise. So you jnow if their better semi metallic pads are less dusty and noisy?

2016 Highlander AWD 165k miles, replaced original rear brake pads, EBC OE Ultimax2 UD1391, GG friction code, made in UK

Cleaned up everything with brake cleaner. Used Sil-Glyde to grease only per service manual locations to see if it was adequate or resulted in noise. Those locations are: both bushing dust boots, grease both slide pins, grease under caliper slide pin bushing (installed on top), installed both pad support plates in original location, installed anti-squeal shim kit along with wear indicator in correction position & orientation, greased inside of each shim.

Brakes squeak at the end of the braking action so will need to apply more grease.

Torqued (2) 14mm caliper slide pins to 20ft-lb & (2) 17mm caliper bracket mounting bolts 70ft-lb.

2015 GMC Terrain V6 wth 115k miles. The rear pads were nearing the end of their life. I replaced with Durago rotors and Akebono ProACT pads.
