I just did the 20 hour service on my 2023 Yamaha 150. I got the 20 hour kit from partsvu for $160. Perfect way to go. Has everything required, plus a hand pump for the lower gear case oil. This service is around $1k at the dealer and a 3 hour round trip.

Doing it right! Ordering the Yamalube kit is easy and certainly ensures your engine warranty is protected. Your Robalo is the same hull color as mine (Cayman 226).

I use my giant channel lock pliers on easy to get at filters. Those band type filter wrenches do tend to crush the filter first before you get proper leverage.

Just did the tinner again. Fram filter, Motul 0W-30, Castrol marine grease, Castrol 85W-90 gear lube.

Felt like a waste, it clearly didn't get a lot of use last year, the gear oil was spotless and the engine oil looked brand new.

One more outing this weekend, then it goes for winter storage until April :(

I accumulated a box full of many type filter wrenches , caps, wrench, straps etc....over a long time. Lately we been doing what they always have instructed (that we did not follow-always seemed to over tighten them!) which is to tighten by hand to STOP, then a quarter turn more. Nephew did oil change this week in car he did a few months ago like that. Not a single sign of leaks and he removed it by hand.:)

On the subject of oil filter wrenches here's a trick that I started using back in the '70s on our '72 Chevy Impala 350 cu in long before cap wrenches were invented, all we had was the strap wrench. One day I went in the garage, found some coarse sandpaper and folded it in half, both sides with the rough side facing out. Slipped it between the strap and the filter and got phenomenal traction! It still works well if you have one of those large marine water separating oil filters and it's stuck. I change those once a season, not because they are full of junk but to avoid them getting stuck!

Boat’s away in the pole barn for the winter so no pics but:
