Post your last tire/wheel purchase

Replaced the OEM Yokohama Avid GTs with Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3s on the Outback yesterday, and then today I had an unrepairable nail puncture in one of the Saab's General GMAX AS/07s. Fortunately General has a 12-month road hazard warranty and Discount Tire handled it without any questions or trouble (I did have to pay for the install though). One more tire than I planned on replacing this week, but it could have been worse.
How are you liking the pirellis?

So far, so good, although I haven't put many miles on yet. First impressions: super quiet, firmer handling and definitely feel confident in turns. The Avids had started to get squirrelly and never felt that great to me, traction-wise.

Aesthetically I like the look of A/T tires on Outbacks but this is a highway road-tripper / school drop-off machine for us right now so it made no sense to get something bulkier. In terms of looks, the Pirellis have a pronounced edge around the rim...the rim guard area? I don't know what you call it, but I've never had a tire with that kind of look before. Hard to explain, and it didn't really seem that apparent in the photos. Anyway, not a bad thing. Just kind of an odd look IMO.

I actually had the Continental CrossContact LX25 at the top of my list but with Discount Tire price matching and rebates the Pirellis were a good bit cheaper. Hope they hold up! Tire prices are nuts compared to the last time I was looking.

2014 Honda Accord EX-L 2.4, 135,XXX miles.
Off: Yokohama YK740 GTX tires, installed in April 2021 w/ 75-77k miles on vehicle
On: Michelin Defender 2 tires, installed January 8th.
Got 4.5 years, and 60k on the Discount Tire’s bargain Yokohama, so that’s pretty good. Nothing bad to say about the old yokos, they were fine, nothing impressive, just average. They were starting to get bald, and with the recents storms here in California, it was a gamble. Now with these Michelins, watch it not rain any more….but at least it’s ready for the hot summer asphalt too. So far with these Michelins, they are nice and quiet, and like to handle turns better than the Yokohamas. Took advantage of the $80 discount America’s tire was offering online for these. Last time I bought Michelins, my truck was totaled by a distracted driver just months later…so we’ll see how long they last, or not lol

Hey - I would love to get a solid review after you see a couple thousand miles on these? Noise? Handling? Wet traction?
Sure. But for now, I can give some initial impressions. For the appearance, it looks meatier than the previous g015. Btw this is for my forester wilderness with stock 225/60/17. When I first saw it after the install, I thought the tire shop put a 65 series. I like the sidewall design too. But for me, the falken wildpeak at4w is still the nicest looking sidewall out there. Anyway, two days after the install, we had snowfall of about 5cm. So for me snow traction is good. The days followed the temp dip to -15c. I can feel the rubber didn't turn hard at all. After that our temp got back up to -2c to 1c so mostly the road becomes slushy. Wet traction is good. And two days ago we experienced some freezing rain, I felt some slide when turning. I think it is still no match against ice. For that, I think I am comfortable running it all year round. I can hear some slight hum on pavement, but noise is acceptable. I haven't tried it for the long highway trip and nor some forest service roads. We'll see this coming summer. I'll update.

Did they take much weight to balance? How do they track on the highway?

I just put on two Michelin Pilot Super Sport's on the rear of the 5.0. Due to the 30k warranty and they were already done prior to the halfway point, I basically got one free! I was going to try the Conti ECS2s, but there is a 3-6 month backorder on them in the size I need! I did switch out the TPMSs as they were the originals and didn't want to take it back two weeks from now as they'd assuredly go out then. Front tires (Conti ECSs) still had a lot of tread left, but I'm going to switch out the sensors (originals, too) so they're all new at the same time.

Ouch lol.. The BMW has 3 different dates of tires, the ones on the front almost new. Just changing the back ones but only one really needs changed. Love Duelers on our RV and that’s what it has now. I could buy tires for our other two cars for this lol. Costco is cheaper if you figure in hazard insurance.

I use these on my Focus and my Corolla.
BF Goodrich Advantage Control
$140 mounted and balanced.
EXCELLENT In the snow.
Great through high water hydro plaining.
Noise isn't great but definitely not terrible.
Wear is excellent. 3 years on two sets, treads look good.

I’m having a set of four 235/65R18 Michelin Defender2’s installed on the Cadillac as I’m typing this post.

I’m at America’s Tire.

I’m replacing the OEM Michelin Primacy Tour AS tires that only lasted 25,500 miles. I’m hoping that the Defender2’s will last longer, be quieter and smoother riding.

We’ll see!

The Defenders will be a big improvement over the OE Primacy.
