Filled up the Maverick last Saturday. A load of Phillips 66 E 10 87 octane. Lot of rural country roads as my trip to the Lady Friend place is now more MPG favorable, due to a bridge reopening. Now all rural hiways.

2003 Honda Civic EX 5MT 189687 miles

13.2 gal tank

I let the fuel gauge get below the E for roughly 30 miles before I had a chance to fill it.

362.3 miles driven, 11.892 gal filled = 30.5 MPG

Previous fill-up was 20 days ago (18.1 miles per day average).

Roughly 70/30 city/hwy ratio.

Year-to-date: driven 5780.2 miles, used 189.014 gals = 30.58 MPG

Love these old high mileage Honda’s! They just run for ever and still save you money.

I own two cars. 2011 RX 350 with the venerable 2GR FE 177,000 miles and 2014 Accord V6 with the equally venerable J35 30,000 miles. The J35 makes a better sound and has a touch more grunt but both engines are a pleasure.

The RX weighs about 800 more lbs but wins the MPG battle by a hair. Most tanks I get around 23 with the RX and 22 with the Accord. Maybe because the Accord is manual and I like to rev it out a bit.

Also the mileage computer on the Lexus underestimates my mileage by around 10% and the Honda overestimates by around 5%.

2018 Honda CRV 1.5T 49234 miles

14.0 gal tank

computer said 36 miles to empty, at 34.5 MPG. Neither are very accurate. I estimate 60 miles to empty.

389.2 miles driven, 11.817 gal filled = 32.9 MPG calculated (~5% worse than computer indication).

previous fill-up was 20 days ago (19.5 miles per day average).

This tank was about 5/95 city/hwy ratio. Nearly every trip was at least 40 highway miles, with small surface street treks to get to and from the highway. Very uncharacteristic driving pattern for this tank. Typically it is driven 85/15 city/hwy ratio.

Year-to-date: driven 4115.6 miles, used 161.909 gals = 25.4 MPG
