Post your Gas Mileage : Calculated

Oddly enough, the other day I turned off the a/c and I seem to now have engine braking while going down hills? I'm not sure what triggers it, maybe if I brake hard enough it "downshifts"? Only has done it a few times, so I haven't learned its pattern.

I tried cruise the other day but got tired of how it holds on a hill--poorly. It does nothing, then revs up, overshoots a bit, comes down, up again... great on flat ground, on rolling terrain I'm better off modulating myself.

At 1,975 miles on this Corolla, with 47 gallons used, almost 1 month of driving, sitting just under 42mpg. So few miles, so the one flier is bumping it, it's really like 41.5mpg... I'm sure that will drop like a rock this winter when the snows go on!

Gassing up today for another 200 miles of towing, picking up a box blade.

Filled up the BMW F900xr for the first time since May. Had a hand injury that made it hard to ride, so I didn't. Put in a tank of Hy-Vee finest 91 octane E0.

200.0 miles / 3.686 gallons = 54.4 MPG

First real-world tank in my GS:

411.2/14.135 = 29.09 MPG. I was a bit surprised, as one of the things I'd read about the LHU is that it can be a bit of a pig especially when it comes to highway numbers. That being said, my commute does play a large role: 60 miles round trip, 59 of which are highway. Either way, not bad for a 3,700lb sport sedan.

If I had to complain about something, it'd be the size of the dang fuel tank in this thing! 18 gallons!! Granted, the ~500mi range is extremely impressive, but man does it sting at the pump. I paid $4.699/gal for 91 octane E0 today.

The Focus seems to get around 33mpg most of the tanks, and that's with some hypermiling and city driving. Last tank was 333.2 miles and took 9.94 gal for 33.5 MPG. I am using 3.3% bigger circumference tires which puts the speedo only a touch low at 60mph as well, so its not bad for an old beater.

Filled up the Maverick Hybrid at Casey with 88 octane E15. Mileage a bit down to hauling heavy loads for my lady friend who moved, plus its been hot. I had 83¢ in grocery rewards. Saved over $10. Casey's is back to a 15¢ discount of Unld 88

Just got back from vacation and set a new record (for me) in the Ranger. Just me and the wife puttering around in Florida on their billiard table flat roads in no particular hurry, driving like my grandad with time to kill, IE 'straight to 10th gear at 45-55 mph'.

28.37 MPG. Granted it had some help by way of 89 E0 and 93 E0 in the two tanks directly before it, but I'll take it.

Too bad the rest of the trip was around 10 mpg.

Those billiard table smooth road once returned 31 mpg in a V-6 RAV4 rental in 2010. In a hybrid you could pulse and glide till your hearts content.

HAH, 722 miles on 12.8 gallons, or 56.4 mpg
This is likely the last really good tank I'll see this year since the weather is growing colder and we are now on a higher RVP fuel.
