Will keep everyone updated. Gunna get in a wreck, as I can't take my eyes off of the instrument cluster looking for the oil light.

Chevron Delo 15W40 is an HDEO oil with very good detergent, combining 2.5 quarts Delo 15W40 with 1 quart MMO it will have excellent cleaning capability and the mixed is not too thick nor too thin.

Does the place you bought the truck from have a warranty? IF so I'd bring the truck back and let them know.

Otherwise, I'd sell the thing and get rid of it. Life is too short to deal with stuff.

No, I bought the truck from a private seller. Thats how I buy all my used trucks. I go through a lot of them, get bored. But I really like this one, and I just wouldn't feel right putting it off on some unsuspecting person. But it has crossed my mind!

Pull the pan and get it cleaned out. $200 is worth it for piece of mind and preventing loss of oil pressure. Have them steam clean the underside of the engine, the pan and pickup etc.

Otherwise I'd change the oil with the cheapest oil you can get....like Quaker State or Supertech at Walmart and the largest filter for your truck and do a bunch of 250 mile oil changes. An HDEO like Shell Rotella synthetic may be a good choice. I'd also take it on the highway and get it nice and hot as often as I could.

Maybe something like this:
1st oil change 250 miles
2nd oil change 500 miles
3rd oil change 750 miles
4th oil change 1000 miles
5th oil change 3000 miles

Just my 2 cents....that's really all it's worth

Folks.... I cant help but think that IF an Engine was Sludged like that one (That pic was BAD, Folks!) That the following two things would be true:

1) That Even with all that "Sludge," AS LONG AS IT (The Sludge) WASNT ADDED TO (Using Good Quality Oil like a MaxLife HM Synth Blend, that Cleans AND protects against FURTHER Sludge Build-up) That the Engine would be OK, as i cant see if Sludge actually REALLY Affects Engine operation, except in maybe some Extreme Circumstances, if the impression i get when reading about Sludge: Its there, but so what...

2) IF Cleaning was desired, at least SOME would be.. that applications of MMO and SeaFoam for that last 100 miles before the OCI would GREATLY help Clean UNIFORMLY ... and let Nice, DIRTY Oil be Drained from Drain Hole and Filter.. Likely WITHOUT "Sludge Chunks."

It seems "Uniform Cleaning" is Key.. Taking it all out the VC galleys maybe made it Grenade itself (As Pan stories tell..) .. and actually seema good reason to Clean SOME Sludge GRADUALLY with MMO for 1000 miles before an OCI (Assume 3000 mile OCI i guess) and SeaFoam 100 Miles before OCI. then New Oil and Filter.

Yes? No? There are just my Insights..

For the record: My Jaguar's Oil was MORE THAN A YEAR Oid, and had LOW Oil Pressure (40 when drivng down the Road) BEFORE it was changed... so that makes me think I have Sludge.. but i have a Strategy to deal (Good Oil, MMO, SeaFoam, maybe once more, it seems to run OK I dont want to mess with my Engine TOO Much if its ok) .. but that Old Oil maybe has Sludged up many many things.)

... and this makes me add that "Sludge may not be as bad as they say"... Maybe it is, i THOUGHT it was, but upon Truly thinking about it.. is it really?

Id clean SOME, but it seems true that if you mess with an Engine too much...

Sad thing is, it would have probably run forever if left alone, now she will die on me in a couple of weeks
