Whats popular where you guys are? When I'm in a store I'll look to see what people are buying. Of course I'm only seeing a small part of the big picture but this is what I see.

#1.Castrol GTX
#2. Valvoline White bottle.
#3. Mobil-1
#4 RP

The diesel guys buy the blue jugs of Delo400 15w40. If I see a jug on the side of the road its always a Blue Delo400 jug. In the bed of customers Diesel pickups I often see Delo Jugs.

I cant remember ever seeing any other brand around here. Someone must be buying the others though.

I never see PZ, QS, or house brands(ST, Oriley, Proline etc) in their shopping carts.

It's pretty close in my area between PYB and Castrol but Pennzoil seems to sell a little better. However a lot of the old guys will tell you about how Castrol is a "premium" oil. For diesel's most everyone seems to use Shell Rotella.

1. PYB
2. Castrol GTX
3. Mobil 1
4. Castrol Syntec

1.PYB
2.VWB/maxlife (sells out almost immediately at WM less shelf space
3.M1
4.PP

Rotella is the big diesel oil around these parts. Boaters seem to prefer it too.

This is going by what always seems to be picked through at local WM's in my area. PYB has tons of shelf space BTW. Supertech Syn is popular as well.

I think the majority here is the regulars, like PYB, M1, and VWB. Castrol is available in a few places, but I don't see it used much. I also see a lot of Citgo products, including the Mystic brand. I think part of the reason that Citgo oil is so accepted here is that there are a lot of Citgo brand gas stations locally, which builds brand recognition. We also have several quickie lube joints that feature Citgo oil exclusively. The local farm store has Citgo dino quarts for $1.99 right now, and I think Citgo oil has a good chunk of our local low end motor oil market.

Chevron Delo sales = Standard Oil of "California" is Chevron which for history conection I'm sure helps Delo sales

citgo really is everywhere around here between gas stations and farm and fleet/ fleet farm stores.

I survey the 5qt used motor oil bottles at the dump when I drop mine off.

A huge flaw in my research is that if someone uses quart bottles, they put the waste oil in a milk jug and I can't see the brand.

QSGB is huge, along with ST and M1. 2/3 to 3/4 of M1 users buy EP. Some pennzoil. 5w30 and 10w30 are huge. 5w20 is rare but I've seen some motorcraft.

Rarer than hen's teeth would be NAPA branded.

Rotella is big with the diesel owners.

I think the only consistent sales we have in Montreal are on Pennzoil.

Only recently have Castrol and Mobil started to give deeply discounted oil.

We have a chain of Pennzoil quick lubes, I think they want to keep a lock on the region.

Which I am very happy about!

Yup. The two farm stores you mention sell a lot of it, including their house brand, which is made by Citgo/Mystic. I think most ag equipment in this area runs on Citgo stuff.

At my local wal marts, most everything valvoline seems to be cleaned out.

Max life is always gone
Next gen is mostly cleaned out
5w30 syn power is never there
