Q State.....

This hilarious, but I would use both honestly and have used some QUAKER STATE without problems. I PERSONALLY WOULD USE EITHER and no I would NOT buy based on price or if one or other is on sale; thats just dumb.

If you WOULD USE either, then why would you NOT buy based on price or if one or other is on sale?Seems like I'd does not make sense to buy one over the other because it cost more.

Again youre making me laugh, so just stop and save your breath. I would rather use MOBIL SUPER 5000 which I plan to in 1,000 miles. I would'nt use based on price for the record, because both are good oils PERIOD. We all have our preferences and dis likes and likes, so dont ask me a silly question as I HAVE MY REASONS and those are mine and mine alone PERIOD. In my areas, sometimes VALVOLINE is out entirely(saw it before) and sometimes QUAKER STATE has like 1 qt of 5w20(what my vehicle uses) so I will check advance, autozone or other place and get either oil there. You happy?

Hey,I am with you.I use mobil 5000 myself.I have used Valvoline, but I do not think I have ever used Quaker State(but I would).
And I definitely understand everyone has their own reasons for doing what they do.I was just jokingly pointing out how dumb your statement sounded(while talking about how dumb other people are).I am sure those people have their own reasons for taking cost into account.
I think I know what you meant, and I was just poking fun,not trying to be a bad guy.

So if Valvoline was $5/Quart and Quakerstate was $4/Quart on sale, you wouldn't buy the Quakestate simply because it is less expensive (that would be buying based on price)?

If both oils are equally good, I don't see your logic here?

That's exactly what I was thinking. Saying "I would use either" and then "I would NOT buy based on price..." doesn't compute. Then he goes off and rants on how stupid everyone else is...

BOTH OF YOU STOP, THINK, THEN SCRATCH HEAD, if oil gets to that price I would use extended oci's. I am not totally 100% serious here online on a forum either. As SGT. Hulka from STRIPES said "lighten up Francis". Have a great evening gents, and fellow BITOG members. Thank You for being the smarter of the 3 Jjones also! Least someone knows what I was thinking and saying. LIGHTEN UP PEOPLE!

Oh yeah Glum and OVERKILL; I can get Mobil Super 5000 or MOBIL CONVENTIONAL from a source i.e. my work. I dont listen to a lot of opinions, jabbing either.

Have a great night,

adam

p.s. If oil really hit $5-9 bucks a qt, I would rather use SUPER TECH.

Logic? I don't see any. Glad to see I'm not the only one that went "Huh" when I read his post.

But back to the original topic - I'd pick Valvoline only because that is what I have used for years - decades actually that is up until about 2000. I realize that's not the best reason in the world for picking an oil but that's my story and I' sticking to it!

But I wouldn't hesitate to use Quaker State if the price was right!

Right now 2 of my 3 cars have Pennzoil in it - the other has Valvoline. The SUV had Mobil Clean 5000 in it when I sold it last Jan.

BTW - I thought it was Pennzoil that had all the problems with sludge! (Yes I realize that back in 1998 Quaker State and Pennzoil merged).

HUH?????????????????????

I pulled those prices out of THIN AIR, they were EXAMPLES.

Do you know what an example is?

Here, I'll use less expensive EXAMPLES, see if you follow me this time:

If you can get Valvoline for $1.50/Quart, but Quakerstate is on sale for $1.00/Quart, you would make it a point NOT to to buy the Quakerstate (buying based on price) because it is cheaper, even though, by your own words they are "equally as good"?

Do you see where the logic train derails, then goes off a cliff, and erupts into a gargantuan fire ball here?

I only buy oil when the price is wayyyyyyy down i prefer pennzoil/Quaker state but i will always shop price i wanted to get pennzoil yesterday but the price was way up so i used what we have at the shop which is an excellent oil at a great price(conoco)
