pretty much all sn oil is oil....buy the one that is on sale or you get the best price on...qs is getting up their in price in the shop we use conoco and that is great oil we have used mobil and that was good also...Haha will your engine really know the difference?
buy SN at the cheapest price in most cases oil is oil

Earlier in this thread, I answered QS. But, for my last OC, I bought Valvoline 5W-20, solely based on price.

This is the first time I've run Valvoline for a fill, to be truthful. Vehicle is running fine, no issues.

Like others have said, I DO like how 'clean' Valvoline looks coming out of the jug. I know, I know, it means nothing, but it is much clearer coming out of the jug.

If I find it on sale like I did last time, I'll use it again.

^^I`ve always wondered why it`s so clear as well. I`ve used Valvoline for years,as did most everyone I know. Sometimes it`d be a coin toss between Valvoline or GTX.

Calcium detergents in oil are very dark. Valvoline uses much less of them (1400-1600ppm) in their oils, therefore the oil is much lighter.

I changed the oil in both my cruze and the equinox with Quaker State Ultimate Durability. Cruze got the ACDelco Cartridge, and the Nox got a Purolator PureONE spin-on. Plan on following the OLM from now on.

I vote for Valvoline for a real good reason...I'm used to it and like the bottle. (Either oil should let you drive the wheels off your car.)

Yes, a noack of 10 is impressive. That is if the # is correct. They seemed to raise the $ at Wally. That must be because they have more of the stuff you cannot see in a voa. That stuff is getting all around these days. Alot of oils have less of things you can detect.

I have Synpower, Durablend, Maxlife SB, QSGB, QTP and QSUD in my stash. I was looking at some QHP 5W-40 yesterday for 3.99/qt.
If I really needed oil for the BMW, I would have been on it, but since I have plenty, the price was too rich.
What I'm getting at is that either brand will do just fine in almost any application.
Buy and use whichever you can get a deal on.
I've never been that big a user of either, but given the quantities of each I have on hand, I will be using a lot of both brands over the next couple of years.

There's a thread here awhile back & it was claining the NOACK of the 5w30 was actually 7 now through a recent reformulation. Which is just incredible if true. Lmk if u want me to link tto it. It was kind of heated thread.

I don't know what is in that Valvoline secret sauce but the UOA's are impressive.

Valvoline!

Use a lot of SOPUS too though...

I really consider PYB, VWB and to a slightly lesser extent QSGB the head of the class for dino's. It's all good!

I had a failure in A Briggs riding tractor with Valvoline. I changed the oil, ran it about 5 hours one afternoon. After I got some tea I tried to crank it and it spun over with no compression. Dipstick was on the full mark.
