"So it's all about you, your responsibility, and obligation which will end anyway -- and to **** with the kid. Once he's 18 you're off the hook? I find that view extremely cynical."

Andrews is caught between a rock and a hard spot..He's not blood..what do you think the kid was talking to his "real" dad about...I bet I know...I'm done...

Hey TeamDFL,
That's enough pal. I've been patient with you, I've tried to understand you and have sympathy for your relationship issues. All you do is ask the same ANSWERED question over and over again. Now you're going to succeed in getting this highly helpful thread locked. I just wanted help with my son, not an idiotic, repititive questioning of my moral belief system and my sons Christianity. Back off now! Go to a therapist if you need it, but don't question how well I raise my family or understand my son's Christainity commitment. Do you know him? Do you know me? Geez, you must be thick skulled.

To all who helped...a big thanks. I'm sorry how this degenerated into this moronic tone.
I'm moving on...thanks again.

How am I going to get the thread locked? I think you need to calm down. Please find when I questioned how you raised your family. Please find where I said I know him. You can't. All you are doing is making assumptions. You asked for help, I gave it. I guess I am just a goof since I found something you don't agree with. I wish you luck. I hope that your son grows up to be a happy and healthy adult. I will no longer try to help someone who obviously does not want help.

It's over man...it's just a keyboard..it's life in motion...we need a group HUG!!!!

With all that said, there have been many many boys who have had premarital sex and viewed porn who have grown up to be normal loving men.
Very few porn viewers with teenaged sex experiences turn out to be evil or damaged people.
Keep perspective.

I have a very good perspective. We just have differing views about cause and effect, consequences, and maybe even morality.

As for your 'liberal minded goof' comment, it glimpses your intolerance and blanket generalities of others

No, just read some of the "goof" comments made by some well meaning, yet sexually "liberal" people in regard to my topic. I'm who I am, not what you or others want me to be. I thought my opening statement pretty much indicated that I wasn't looking for opposing viewpoints that are too far out there. Just being honest. I'm sure some more liberal minded people wouldn't solicit opinions about how my Christian beliefs would relate to their issues either. We are all different.....thank God.

Your son lied to you.
Your son lied to you about having porn.
Your son lied to you about the type of relationship he has with his girlfriend.
Have you ever considered that he could very well be paying you lip-service on being a christian as well?
Half my life ago when I was a rebellious teen, it would have sounded like an excellent ploy to "get you off my back."
If this is the case, you are constantly working from an assumption that he shares your values. Actions speak louder than words in my book. If you read his actions, he obviously does not share those values. If, working in a situation where he is indeed only playing along with your beliefs, you continue to labor under the assumption that your morals are his morals, you will have no success.

Just food for thought. Could be way wrong, but faking a religous belief to appease a parent is not uncommon.
