Please help ID this vehicle (older mid-sized SUV)

This is the suspect vehicle in a vandalism case.

The property owner and I have looked online extensively but can’t find a match. I find the body-colored pillars to be distinctive. I was thinking Subaru from 15-20 years ago or so, but online searches don’t agree.

Looks like a Ford Escape, circa 2003 or so to me. This looks to be the color?

C pillar is wrong for the Ford Escape.

It also looks too big.

Didn't Isuzu incorporate the rear door handle in the pillars too though? Did the Rodeo's do that? I know Nissan did.

The Isuzu frontier is a similar sized vehicle but has the rear handle in the regular location as far as I know.

Yeah, just did a Bing image search and it's just a regular handle on the Isuzu.

Looks like a Generation 2 vintage and it appears to have the longitudinal roof rack similar to the photo below.
