One of my neighbours passed away and at his wake they had this photo of a plane apparently used by the Royal Canadian Air Force in the 50’s. Can anyone identify it?

Watch the 2004 movie The Flight of the Phoenix. A C-119 Flying Boxcar plays an important part. This is the remake of the 1965 movie by the same title which featured the older but similar C-82 Packet. Both planes were made by Fairchild. The C-82 is a late-WW2 plane, and the C-119 is a post-WW2 plane.
