All set to begin the soak. I'm removing from the UHJB the PCM-b, I believe I should also remove the Fuel INJ fuse

I will be soaking for a couple days.

Still mourning the loss of the Saturnfans website, Charlie gave up on it I guess, he should have passed the baton to one of the senior members of the forum.

Smoke 'em out!

Just did a B12 soak on my 2009 2AZFE... the more things change...

If you don't free the rings, it will at least run better. It will run GREAT until the carbon comes back.

You can also just use clear flood mode by flooring the gas while you crank.

The MMO will relieve the "dry" condition of the piston tops following the B12, lubricate, and help you get enough compression to start the engine before the normal supply of oil finds its way back up the cylinder walls.

Yep I figure past owners of S series will find this of interest.

I just put 2 ounces of B-12 into the cylinders and put each plug in place a couple turns, now I can go for a 'lil bike ride
2 ounces could be too little but good enough for initial crank to wet in, I would look up the cylinder bore/piston diameter of your engine and use that as a baseline to calculate a fill volume to pour in. As long as the cylinder piston depth is even on all 4 gives you room for more to work its magic and less having to check back every 2-3 hours to add in between.

Let us know how it goes. Really like reading success stories on this kind of thing.

I’m on my 3rd Saturn S-series. It’s a 97 SW-2 that I commute with nearly 50 miles every day. I did a B-12 soak about a year ago. It was using about a quart every 1000 miles. After the soak it’s a quart every 2000 miles. I would rock the pistons back and forth and add more B12 a couple of times a day over the weekend. I changed the oil and filter after the soak. Next oil change about 3500 miles later I cut open the filter and it was LOADED with sludge. You may want to do a couple of filter changes after the soak to monitor things. Good luck.

I've been running Penz Platinum for years now.. It's supposed to keep things clean.. I rolled on an impulse and decided to try the HPL Cleaner..
I have a Ford 4.0 SOHC Engine with around 120K on it. I put a quart of HPL 5W-30 with my PP and the oil is starting to brown a bit after only 600 miles.. I'm surprised because I thought my mill was pretty clean..

Pics down the Filler Neck.

Here's at the beginning of the OC

Maybe worth a shot..

I topped off the cylinders 9 hours ago and there is still MMO even in #4

I'll check later this afternoon and probably call it good.

I will drain the oil before attempting to fire it up since I used a full 2 cans of Chemtool.

Then fill with a few quarts of sacrificial oil for a 5 minute idle.

Thanks for posting your progress.

Maybe change your oil filter early into the next interval; in case something else comes loose. Say by 2k miles in? Going off what the other poster said.

@53' Stude might be willing to cut open the oil filter if you mail it to him. If he is still doing that :)

I got one of the longacre clones.

I will be using Delvac 1300 with a Supertech MP3614 today

~1000 miles later I will change the oil to Mobil 1 HM 5w-30 w/Bosch D+ 3422

Well, it's been almost 24 hours since I last filled the cylinders and all 4 have plenty of MMO.

I assume that is a good sign.

It's getting a bonus day, up to 72 hours.
