My Titan has developed a knock over the past 2-3k miles. It is only noticeable when engine is loaded against transmission in drive with foot on brake (idle is about 500). If I put trans in neutral or park, idle is about 600 and the knock is barely audible. The knock seems to come from the lower end and taps about 2 times per second. It is intermittent though, mostly happens when engine is cold, but will do it when fully warmed up.
I have about 3500 on Pennzoil Platinum 5w30, and before I was using Mobil 1 10w30. I am hoping it is just piston slap (block and heads are alum, with CI bore liners). It may be the trans pump and I am due for a flush. I will be changing oil with P.U. next weekend, maybe that will quiet it up.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Dave
