Creepy. Unless it was a random psycho, they can probably figure out who put that there though.

(Also media misuse of the word detonate again...pipe bombs explode, high explosives detonate. There is a difference.)

They even used Teflon tape or pipe dope. Very thorough!

Pic of the dude spewing his tea is awesome.

It looks like it'd been on there for awhile. Maybe I'm wrong, but the wire that attached it looks rusted and the teflon is discolored. Hopefully they can find the nut who did it.

$5 this was a used car that the current owner bought, and the pipe bomb was already attached. Perhaps the previous owner was a nefarious type with the associated enemies? Gang banger or something similar.

Bombs been on there awhile, its all rusted.

Probably too weak to plow up a tail pipe.

Back in the day we made them by filling a piece of pipe with matchheads and crimping the ends.

I used to make rockets by crimping one end and filling it with matchheads. Used aluminum foil tamper at the other end. There was a small hole drilled at close to the middle. To ignite I would use a piece of aluminum foil with a 'v. notch in it and put it in the hole. A train transformer was used to supply the current. The rocket would go a couple hundred feet. Fun times. Today I would be in jail.

Seeing the headline, I automatically assumed terrorism with the usual suspects coming to mind first. Reading the article, I'm more inclined to think its a miscreant with some beef with this shop they are taking to the utmost extreme to express. Be interesting to see the follow up story when/if the perp is caught.

back in the day, 9th grade to be exact, a person in my classroom blew himself up and crippled a cousin of mine by doing just that - the crimping action set off the match heads which blew it up and disembowelled hom. He took almost 10 minutes to die with his guts spilled out over the basement floor while the paramedics showed up.
