A few months ago I was heading out of town in my ‘96 Jeep on the I-10 and went to fill up at the Pilot I always stop at in Tonopah, AZ. Noticed on the pump it said it was E15, and for cars 2001 and newer. I’m not an ethanol hater, but I went across the street to the Chevron for the same price to fill up. On the way back I was near Vicksburg, AZ and went to fill up at the Pilot I again always stop at, and it too was E15. Went across the highway to the Pride station to fill up.

I was out of town again this last week but in the Genesis so I filled up with the E15 at Pilot.

Is this all Pilot stations now?

that looks quite photoshopped

Is E15 ok for use in cars and power equipment? I assume it would be, but maybe not the best for storage?

I remember when the loves in my area started using e15 for their lowest price gasoline offering and I thought it was such a gip. I stopped by from them and started buying from the road ranger across the street because frankly my car runs way better on top tier versus generic e15.

Oddly enough the Costco station near my house has had stickers saying it has up to 15% ethanol in it for a few months now but I haven’t seen any other stations of any brand (including other Costcos) that have anything other than 10%. It doesn’t even make sense that just one station would have E15, does the tanker truck that delivers to them only go to that one station? And what refinery would have E15 right now if nobody else is selling it. It’s puzzling 🤔 In Canada they aren’t even mandating E15 until 2030

This explains it and it is NOT to be political, just to inform since people aren't in the know.

What does that explain exactly? How its able to be sold?
It appears to have nothing to do with pilot only carrying e15.

Sheetz has had e15 on separate pumps for years here.

Pilot just being pilot is my take.. probably makes 5cents more per gallon.. the owner has to afford that new browns dome somehow... oh wait.

It would be interesting to test the gas and see the ethanol % though.

I took this pic a little early but it stabilized at about 6% ethanol.
it was 87 Top tier from getgo.. sourced from KAG - (Kenan advantage group)

Few people from outside of Ohio are going to get your point.
The current Browns stadium is barely twenty five years old, but the team owner made a credible threat to move the team to another venue in another state and our state politicians caved.

Wisconsin has had e15 pumps year round for about 15 years.

The amount of ethanol in the 88e15 varies seasonally many times just under e10 when tested. This year has been strange with ethanol percentages at the legal limit since February.

Our 88e15 lately RARELY has the necessary cheap price needed to make it worthwhile.

From what I’m told (going on 4 months) we have some sort of refining and capacity crisis that results in a lot of poopie quality octane which is making it financially necessary to sell more ethanol for octane.

I do find it extraordinarily strange seeing 87/89e15.
Historically only 88/90 octane was e15.

Ideally gas stations should have
1 tank 85e0
1 tank 91e0
1 tank e85

They could then blend any ethanol percentage and any octane.

Extra ethanol MUST be quite a bit cheaper to move but if you give people the option they will buy the cheaper e15, but if it only saves 3 cents, lol

Pilot is not on the Top Tier fuel participant list. Also, the EPA continues to grant waivers allowing E15 in place of E10. I couldn't find any requirements that the pumps have new stickers showing the fuel may contain more than E10.

that wasnt my point. my point was the article linked has nothing to do with pilot that I can tell.

now the supplementary dig at Haslem who owns the browns but also PILOT and flying J... He has a quite poor reputation along with 8.5billion dollars.. and probably paid off the establishment to get 600million unclaimed funds from OHIO.. well that is getting off into the weeds.. I didnt care if people got the reference.

I was mainly interested in what @skyactiv was trying to say with his article link.. that doesnt seem to have much relevance on pilot going e15..
Considering sheetz has sold e15 for years.... year round... but sheetz gives you the choice.. and about 20cents off to buy e15.
vs Pilot.

This
is why I like e15, most stations use it as a loss leader periodically, 5, 10, 20 even 30 cents a gallon discount isn’t uncommon.

Sadly in Wisconsin at least as fuel has steadily increased in price since January 2025
The cost savings of three cents on e15 is a waste of time , especially with $3 ish fuel being the new normal this year. Gone is the $2.40 fuel from last year.

Getgo at 5th street (44203) is currently 2.61, $2.31 with advantage pay. I used a 30gal rewards at $3.15 the day Iran was bombed thinking it was going up
so of course that makes gas go to 2.31 currently.. Although it might be farther impacted by the recently completed buyout of getgo. Couche-Tard is the new owner not Giant Eagle(grocery store).
92 octane e10 was $3.81

93 octane is a MUST.
