Found this intesting: "tractor use only in canada" Not sure what that means. this tractor has been in TX its whole life.

yeah the filter was in for 30 years.. thats about how long it has been since it was cranked. And my best guess was it was in use for around 100hrs or less before it was parked. sending in a used oil analysis for kicks.

Baldwin is still very popular with the farmers. They have two factories a little north of me in Nebraska and I think some of their slower movers are Chinese made. I suppose some from other countries could slip in there too, but I've not seen that yet. There used to be a Baldwin rep who was a member here that posted every now and then, but I haven't seen a post from him for years. I also don't have a clue about the reference to Canada, but maybe it means that you shouldn't use it on a car or truck in Canada, who knows?

I'm not the International Harvester expert, but I believe there were 706 diesel, gas and propane versions. I'm assuming the OP's tractor is diesel for the simple reason that the majority of them were made as diesel, a few of them were gas and the propane 706 tractor is rare.

It's diesel, the D282 engine.
