Pick my next oil change

As a lube tech at the local GM dealer, I have accumulated a lot of extra oil and filters. My personal car is going to be in need of an oil change soon (2004 Monte Carlo 3.4). Whatever I put in it will be ran for less than 1000 miles as I'm going to trade it in soon. I would like to create whatever blend will make the piston slap the quietest. Create what belnd you think would be the best and choose a filter

Capacity 4.5qts

Avalible oil:

Mobil 1 5w30
Mobil 0w20
Mobil Delvac 15w40
Napa syntetic 5w20
GM Dexos 5w20
GM Dexos 5w30

Filters:

Acdelco PF52
Acdelco PF47e
Purolator PF47 equivalent

LOL I'm going to be the contrarian and go with Mobil 1 0w20 as long as it's the SN stuff.

The 15W40 would be the best at quieting the piston slap, any of the filters would be fine for 1000 miles, I would put on the E-core just to get rid of it!

15w40. Filter won't make a difference, maybe even just leave the old one on. You aren't trading it in at the dealership you work at are you? If they do find out about the issue it might come back and bite you in the [censored].

The point of changing the oil before trading it in is a good idea, especially if the oil change accomplishes quieting down the piston slap.

OP I'd use the 15W40, and any one of the filters you have.

No, I'm not. FYI, piston slap is completely normal in these engine, I am just trying to quiet it.

How did you acquire this oil? I know a dealership where the service tech would keep the oil people would bring in and just put the bulk dealership oil in. Eventually he got caught and fired.

That's how a few techs I knew back in the day did it where I worked. Some poor sap would bring in Mobil 1 or Amsoil and get bulk oil. The smarter techs would use the Amsoil or Mobil 1 filter on the customer's car though, because most people are smart enough to remember the filter they brought in, and actually look. Just another reason for the DIY'er to continue to do his own work.

We give free oil changes with the purchase of a vehicle. When you change oil in a Duramax you have to bill out full gallons but they only hold 2.5, so you get a 1/2 gallon extra every time. I have Dexos because that what every 2011 takes and most stuff doesn't hold an exact quart amount, so it adds up. I have mobil 1 because 3.6 caddies take 6.5qts, so I get 1/2 a quart every time. I have napa 5w20 because again most non-GM 5w20 stuff doesn't hold an exact amount of quarts. I have the 0w20 off a Honda I used car inspected and had to order a full case. I have the purolator filter because I found it in a used truck I inspected. I have the Acdelcos because that's what we stock and they are like $2 my cost.

So you "acquired" all this oil and dont know what to do with it? I feel sorry for all those poor chaps that payed for and thought were getting quality stuff and were at your mercy to rip them off. I hope your bringing a jug of your "acquired" oil and filter to a shop as well

JESUS [censored]! NO ONE PAYED FOR IT. WE GIVE FREE OIL CHANGES. How hard is that for you to understand. I have NEVER taken any oil that a customer supplied. If there is extra, they get it back. Some of you guys need to get your head out of the sand.

I can assure you that someone payed for the oil and if it wasn't the customer than it was your employer. In any case you just confirmed my and others suspicious of your integrity.
