No, you're fine. For my job with LE, we also are tested (obviously). Alcohol is digested roughly 1 drink per hour, so a 12 OZ beer, 5 oz glass of wine, or 1 shot of 40% alcohol. They won't know you drank so don't sweat it.

I'm 58 and have been going annually for the last 10 years or so. I used to worry for weeks in advance that the doctor would find something horrible wrong with me, but after the first couple of clean exams, I now look forward to an annual confirmation that I'm still OK. It's a much better feeling...
The more concerning part is that you've only been to the doctor once in the past 25 years. Start going annually for just a routine check-up/physical. It's significantly easier for you and your doctor to address any issue if it's caught sooner rather than later.

When I took a pre employment test the paperwork listed what % was allowable. It was very low but not zero on a bunch of stuff. I was also instructed to bring any prescription bottles with me so they could check up.

They are just looking for booze, pot, and opiates, probably. They won't pay to test for arcane stuff unless you're handling nukes for black ops.
Expect a toilet with tons of blue dye so you can't steal its water to dilute your urine. Carry your specimen with unwashed hands to another room. Get copies of the unique serial number on your label. Worry more.

talking to personnel before the test is falling on deaf ears: i told 3 persons (receptionist, tech taking the test and supervisor) i took the cold medicine and it didn't count. they are there only to take the test and pass it along!

alot good advise here, some simple stuff I never though that could effect my result , like take cold medication... good to know, thank you guys. I got nothing to worried any more, I feel very confident,

quick update : I pass all with no problem, the lady told me my urine having perfect color -_- , well all that water I drank pay off haha.
You could have snorted a few lines of coke Friday, got puking drunk, popped some pain pills and aced the test Monday morning. It's just pot that shows up long term, for like 3 weeks or so.
haha I take it as a joke, I dont do anything bad at myself or other, either do good thing and right thing or dont do it at all.
