Well done, glad you turned your life around.

One day at a time, right?

As far as jobs, you sound like the kind of person that might be good as a substance abuse counselor. Having been there, you know all the stories you'll hear before the first word comes out of someone's mouth, and will know the right path to put people on, based on their behavior. Plus, having gone down that path you'll develop trust with the people you deal with. Do a Google search in your area for that sort of position and see if it fits for you.

At 54 years old the entire family thinks that jail or death is just over the horizon. We (5 siblings) have tried everything we know for at least the last 15-20 years. An intervention like the tv show would have him walking out and cursing all of us, including our 92-year old mother, who shouldn't have to be dealing with this.

This hurt me and I guess it should. My last rehab (before incarceration) they had a "family night" and my 70yr old mother came. She had written down and read all the times she enabled me. She hired lawyers, "loaned" me money, took partial custody of my son, ect.....The worst was when the police thought I was still living at her house and had a "no knock" search warrant. They barged in the home at 6am with guns drawn. One officer nearly shot her beloved German Shepard. After she read that letter, I felt like a total piece of crap.....

Yes, but you need like a two year certificate for it. It would be an interesting path though.

You make posts in your own thread like an alcoholic......LOL!!!

It takes a long time for the self-centered andself-absorbed thoughts, words, and actions to even be NOTICED by the addicted, let alone dealt with.....
