I'll just add that I haven't let Poop-Boyz do ANYTHING to ANY of my cars since about ten years ago when they air-wrenched my wheels back onto my Civic, hopelessly warping the rotors in the process. If they had been willing to accept some responsibility, I'd have some respect for them, but they didn't, even though I'd watched them do it (and couldn't get to them fast enough to stop them...). This said, I suppose the only real difference between Poop-Boys and AZ is that Poop-Boyz has service bays where employed morons actually inflict real damage on people's cars, whereas at AZ, the same morons are pretty much limited to giving foolish advice (like the classic 0w-30 is too thing stuff...). Rant off.

Again, please keep it within the bounds of public decency so I don't have to lock it down. Thanks all.

You tell us to keep it in the "bounds of public decency" and then you call a company some of us have worked for/or are working for "Poop-Boys"? Not once but 3 times? That's pretty sad. I worked for PEP BOYS many years ago, and I know some fine people who still do!
You may have had a problem with one store, but that doesn't mean all the stores are bad.
I'll admit they don't always have the lowest prices - so what? That's what America is all about! Go down the street to someplace else!
But for a moderator to do this type of thing, to me is just unbelievable!

Hey look -- I didn't establish their track record -- they did. If they'd like to designate a corporate rep, a particular store rep, or any combination of the above, we'll be glad to have them, and I'll be the first to make sure that they are treated here with the same respect I'd like to receive.

Now, with respect to what you've posted. First, at a time in my life when I least needed to be messed with and could least afford to pay for things I should not have had to -- they stuck it to me. I went there looking for value, because I needed it, and I got shafted instead. OK, the "poop boyz" name might be a tad harsh, but based upon what I experienced, they earned that name, and in all candor, a lot more. I'll tell you what's sad: a store luring in customers with the promise of delivering good service at a reasonable price, and instead of that, delivering damaged cars, and then claiming that they had nothing to do with inflicting the damage. Apparently, I'm not alone in my harsh feelings about Pep-Boys.

I invite someone from Pep-Boys corporate to chime in and defend the company.

You obviously missed the whole point of my post. I guess Mods can get away with name calling and childish behavior.
Because you had problems with one store doesn't mean the whole chain is bad. I can tell you countless stories about various other chains as well, but I don't insult the hard working people who work for those companies by calling their company names on a public forum. There are good people and bad in every company. Don't insult everyone else because of a few bad apples.

Also, after having worked with the public for many decades I know there are TWO side to every story. Too bad we couldn't hear from the Pep Boys store who 'did you wrong'!

I noticed your are a lawyer. Boy the stories I could tell. So since I had bad experiences with 2 or 3 lawyers should I assume ALL of you are crooked, dishonest liars? Of course not.

I've had very positive experiences with some Pep Boys stores. I could tell you about the time I was 500 miles from home and they stayed open past closing to fix my vehicle and were very nice about it.
I understand you had a bad experience with one store. I respect your right to complain about something that happened 10 years ago!
But grow up and don't insult everyone that does/or has worked for this company. Same thing with calling Auto Zone employees "morons". Yes some are not that bright. Doesn't mean everyone that works there is a moron any more than all lawyers are lying deceitful crooks!

MY WHOLE POINT WAS THIS: I just thought a moderator for a big - normally well respected - forum like this should have a little more decency and common courtesy than call a whole corporation names because of one problem from 10 years ago! Especially after telling everyone "keep it within the bounds of public decency" Just sounded hyprocritical to me!
Also I have to wonder - if Pep Boys would ever consider advertizing on this forum after what you have said and your attitude. I guess the owner of this site doesn't really need any more advertising dollars anyhow! :) END OF RANT

I normally have well over a 90% success rate getting rebates.

Of the two I have tried with Pepboys, both were refused for bogus reasons.

Yes, all auto parts stores have their problems...the others don't seem to work as hard at creating problems as Pepboys

does.

I'll give you this. First, since I said what I said, you're more than entitled to react as you have. If you found my expression offensive, I suppose I can see why. On the other hand, I don't think you really appreciate the impact that in-your-face horrible service can have on customers. Pep Boys employees damaged my car, and all but told me "too bad, get lost". I understand that not everyone who works there is the same, but how would you feel if you had been on the receiving end? I suppose I could have taken a slightly higher road, but OTOH, PB management has never done anything to correct their error, and they've never been swift enough to advertise here.

Actually yes I do understand. Do you think you are the only person in the world who has had something like this happen to them?
I've had VERY similiar situations happen with Goodyear, Firestone, a Ford Dealership, a couple of Chevrolet dealerships - I could go on and on. But I guess I just deal with it differently!

I've had problems with one of the Pep Boys in my area but no problem - I don't go to that store anymore. There are at least 2 others very close by. There are also several Kragens and Auto Zones, not to mention a couple of Napa stores.

". . . they've never been swift enough to advertise here" Can't imagine why! LOL. After a thread like this, I can just about guarantee they won't. I was considering making some phone calls, but I think I'll skip it.

" . . . PB management has never done anything to correct their error". After 10 years - you really expect them to?

Like I said before - two sides to every story and frankly I'd love to hear their side!
