People blocking charging stations.

Exactly. In Asia we ran our air conditioning at 26°C. We had fans running on the side. It was plenty comfortable. Fans make a big difference when used with A/C.
That is the thing that gets me, people in the USA think 78 degrees during the daytime and evenings is too warm.
With that said, its not an excuse for the poor performance of the power companies, they should be able to deliver whatever power people want to buy.

Well, blaming the Police for bad behavior when they have people in need to help doesn't make much sense either.
Don't get me wrong, if people were held responsible for this stuff it would change, but do we have to have more and more Police for everything?
If you or I are being robbed or whatever and my beat Officer was busy writing a ticket for parking in front of a Tesla Supercharger because of some jackass being stupid, the real victim is you or I.

Having said this, I would like it to stop.
Not blaming the police. The blame lies on the entity who controls the police aka “their boss” per se.

You can blame central AC for this. Some part of the house would be way warmer than another but nope, you only have one thermostat and one compressor on/off to use, otherwise your cost would go from 10k to like 16k. The rest of the world would just run window AC or individual mini-split in each room at 240V.

I have to set my downstairs thermostat to 74F so that my upstair will be cooled to 82F, and keep the circulation fan ON constantly to keep the temperature in the house as even as possible.

CA is just the “beginning”. I expressed my concern regarding the grid and EV demand and some replied “we have plenty of electricity” or “power comes from the wall” as if electricity magically generates at a receptacle outlet in your house. I guess some just don’t understand how electricity works and how it’s delivered to your home.

CA energy is now 1/5 renewables while fossil fuel plants have been shuttered. Renewables are good, but not reliable like fossil fuels yet until battery energy storage systems or other energy storage technologies are developed. Solar stops generating as soon as the clouds appear and wind stops generating as soon as the wind stops blowing. Unless you can store that energy to discharge at night or during low wind days, you are met with a shortage if your other plants can’t meet peak demand

Feel good policies that fly in the face of logic results in consequences.

Also, blocking the EV chargers is dumb. Did the guy with the lifted truck set his AC to 78 and turn off all his appliances? What if one of the people trying to charge his EV is a doctor trying to make it to the hospital. Just dumb.

When we have water shortages and they tell us not to water grass or wash cars, people can get fined if they're caught. Maybe the same should apply to EV charging stations, and while they're issuing fines they can fine or arrest people for blocking the charging stations.
Or simply turn off the chargers.

The scumbag should've immediately gone to jail and had his (or was it a she? Only people who drive lifted trucks around here are high school girls) effeminate vehicle towed and impounded.
