I purchased a Superformance several weeks ago, it has 428 Ford FE the PO says he uses 50w Pennzoil Racing.

I talked to the machine/engine builder shop he says stay with the 50w even in winter, he also said he proly had a build sheet somewhere but he was busy at the time, he builds alot of racing and tractor/truck pulling motors and blower motors, has real good rep. Says the engine has everything done to it and still run pump gas.

I.m thinking of trying some of the Rotella straight 40w i run in the old Detroit 6v92?

Or maybe Rotella T syn.

Is the Pennzoil racing 50w made by Shell?

thanks, marvin

Yes, the Pennzoil 50W racing oil is made by Shell. Before I would use the Rotella T synthetic, I would try the Pennzoil 25W-50 racing oil. Extremely good product that will give the same protection the straight 50W will. I'm sure the engine builder has a reason for his recommendation.

The Pennzoil Racing oils are good. If you want to try some thing else look over Brad Penn's selection of racing oils. I have used them for years and never had a problem yet.

Like Johnny said,EXCELLENT stuff! One of the smoothest oils I`ve ever run! It`s just VERY hard to find though, for some reason. I ordered a case from Oreilly last year, and they now said they can no longer get it,and it was only like $3.25 a quart!
