Pentius UFXL PLXL7317 O-Ring gasket failure.

For me, it’s turning it by hand hard enough to let out a grunt trying to squeeze the last 1/16th of a turn out of the filter. 🤷🏻‍♂️ 😂
This had never failed me ⬆️

When I was an apprentice, one of my bosses told me "as tight as you can, by hand; don't worry we'll get it off". I took that as we have the knowledge and tools to get it off if it returns, because if it comes loose, I'm in big trouble.

Not everyone can hand tighten an oil filter the same amount, and the location of the filter changes how well it can be tightened by hand only. Marking the filter and seeing how much it turns after the gasket first makes contact is the best way to install a filter.

It has never failed me, but I was joking with you Zee.

It was just a global comment about filter installation. The OP has been installing filters for a long time too, but look what happened.

Honestly, the first filter I’ve had leak a smidge after tightening by hand was the Amsoil EAO26 on my dual bypass system. I ended up having to torque it about 1 1/4 turns (with a cap wrench) to get it tight enough to stop leaking. I mean magilla gorilla levels of torquing on this thing with a wrench before it would stop weeping. I kept checking it after that torquing and still had to crank on it one or two more times before I wouldn’t have anymore oil I had to wipe off the can. I don’t know what the deal was with that filter. No others have done it to me.

Did you use other EAO26 filters on the same setup, and if so did they seal up better?

Not yet, that was the first one and it’s still in use. I’m probably going to use a CQP 85515 next go around. I’m concerned about whether the Ams filter is leaking or not, sadly.
