Pentius PLXL 7317 Initial Impressions vs Microgard Select

Looks like they are somewhat defect prone when looking at scamazon reviews.

That's not good. I usually inspect my filters pretty closely, & haven't noticed that on my cases. I'll have to look them over again later to be sure. I'd have to put their customer service to the test again & give them a call if I do find any, as I'm way past the return window for Amazon. Thanks for bringing this up.

Honestly that review is a from a member here that posted a thread about it. It’s the only verifiable defect I’ve seen, plenty of c&p’s here to look at. I’ll do one at some point. All 12 of mine are perfect. I inspect any filter I purchase before use no matter the brand.
Looks like more than one negative review for this particular SKU. Where (retailers) are you physically inspecting the pentius filters prior to purchase?

This is my first ever purchase and it was from Amazon. Goal was to compare to PG made filters and share with BITOG. As you can see almost if not identical. Superior quality compared to current Fram, Champ, M+H offerings.

Ok, I assumed when you said "I inspect any filter I purchase before use no matter the brand." that it was absolute.

I think I'd buy singles of this filter to make the exchange/replacement easier. Otherwise I'll be returning the entire case if 1 of the 12 has a defect.

I had the same issue with Wix - so don't think its exclusive to them.

Having been in a couple stamping plant that make filters, the sold at retail branded volume seems to be tiny compared to the OEM and Jobber market. So I think people like us are mostly a nuisance in their opinion.
Yes-but BITOG comes up vary often & high on Google searches-so, our opinions & experiences are amplified over "just some schmuck with a bad oil filter"!

Not a bad idea. This is the fist time I’ve ever bought a filter/filters from Amazon. But at any brick and mortar store I’d open the box and inspect first.

To be fair, the quote still holds merit. Sure you can't inspect before purchasing off Amazon, but once you get them you inspect before deciding to use or not. Amazon returns are easy enough that a small box of 12 filters seems like it would be easier to return without questions vs a single filter. A case is worth the savings alone if all check out fine. I'd wonder if there's actually less probability of running into a defective filter in a case than buying singles from an online retailer that may resell filters that get returned for little defects like that which they may overlook. At least the case is sold in a company labeled box that was more than likely sealed at the plant.

I am unsure of your point? Are you saying Wix responds to @Glenda W. but Premium Gard does not?

Someone from bob@bobistheoilguy needs to email these people. See if that commands more clout?

When I purchased my cases a year ago in 2 different sizes, I had a question about a filter size for another vehicle I wanted to use the UFXL on. I didn't send any emails, but did call the number posted on the Pentius website, & was able to get the answer I was looking for right then & there. She did have to put me on hold for a moment while she confirmed with a technical advisor. Not sure about more complex inquiries, but may be worth a shot to give them a ring. She was very polite & helpful.
I was trying to contact Premium Guard with some technical questions about their filter efficiency claims on their website - they seemed to have conflicting information on their filter efficiency claims. They have a specific email address for this purpose. I sent 3 different emails and never got any kind of response at all. They have a phone number for general questions, but nobody on the phone could answer my technical questions.

I misunderstood that for Pentius' customer service.

Yep. I have emailed Fram, PG, PGI, Ecogard, and Pentius this week so there’s still hope. Others were over a month ago.

@Glenda W. ... could you please measure the diameter and length of the Pentius PLXL 7317. I'd like to see how close the diameter and length is to the 7317 OG Ultra and Titanium which I run on my cycle. Looking for an alternative to the OGs.
Here you go! Looks like 2 1/2” x 3 3/8”

Thanks! So the OG XG7317 and Titanium are 2.7 inches diameter and 3.5 inches tall per Fram's website info I have a snap-shot from 2018. The current versions have the same diameter and height today. So the Pentius PLXL 7317 looks like they are a hair smaller and would fit good in the space they mount on the bike.
