Pentius PLXL 7317 Initial Impressions vs Microgard Select

Lookin' good!

I bought a PLXL6607 recently and was impressed with the build quality. Lots of well formed holes in the center tube with no 'hanging chads', and It's actually a bit taller than the Fram 6607. The filter felt hefty, too. I think WCW measured the can thickness at about .65mm which is noticeably thicker than a lot of other filters. Frams for example are like ~.45mm.

If the filtration efficienty is really 99% @ 20 microns like they say, then I reckon we've found the replacement for the OG Ultra. Maybe even better if you take can thickness into account.

Bonus - the branding is on an easy to remove label which on my sample was curling up slightly on one side, basically begging to be removed. (I don't like loud branding on my bike).

Better snap these up before quality takes a nosedive! :D

I looked up the Pentius oil filter for our 2015 escape and this is what we found. It's not anything like that has been posted.

You want the extended ? Here it is : https://www.amazon.com/Pentius-PLXL3614-Spin-Filter-Extented/dp/B075DTY7J6

I am unsure of your point? Are you saying Wix responds to @Glenda W. but Premium Gard does not?

Someone from bob@bobistheoilguy needs to email these people. See if that commands more clout?
What I’m saying is-when the manufacturers (more like Chinese/3rd World contract mfr. resellers) respond to nothing, or respond with gibberish, when you search “best oil filter” or somesuch, you get redirected HERE, by Google, a good portion of the time.

Both media’s look great imo but I would agree with you, the microgard select media “looks” better.

maybe i am fetching a bit but since microgard is 25 micron and 99%, maybe we can assume or hypothesize that the pentius is closer to that number rather then closer to the lower 20 micron that pentius seems to say

Flow and efficiency are 2 different topics. The Pentius is marketed as an ultra flow filter, allowing more flow which is better.
So the extra light might mean that the Pentius will have more flow pressure than the Microgard select which is an advantage for Pentius filters.

Efficiency is independent of flow. Pentius explicitly mentions it's efficiency is 99% @ > 20 microns. I trust this company.

It more of a cultural thing. South Korea as a culture seems to believe that building the best product is the way to expand a business.
I've seen this in the Hankook 90,000 mile warrantied tires that I purchased. Consumer Reports did a test on them at their Texas track and estimated 85,000 mile real world tread life, which is great. Also the Kumho tires warranty and estimated tire life by Consumer reports are about the same. Both tires are made in South Korea. The point I'm trying to make here is that I trust South Korean companies. Also, LG is a South Korean company, and they make the most reliable home appliances (ex: washers, dryers, stoves, refrigerators) according to Consumer Reports.

I have emails out to Pentius for details on efficiency.

Both of my cases of 2 different oil filters were made in South Korea, but the Pentius air filters, cabin filter, & fuel filter I got in from Amazon the other day are from the PRC, which I found interesting. They look to be of good quality for what they are nonetheless, & much cheaper than the parts store.

Would you know the efficiency of the Pentius air filters, and which model you purchased.

My current strategic air filter is the Fram 40,000 mile air filter with 99% efficiency @ 20 microns sold exculsively at Walmart for about $14.
But, I've lost confidence in Fram as a company, and have an open mind toward Pentius air filters.

Doesn't say on the packaging. Air filter PAB7417 & fuel filter PFB67221 for the Isuzu, & Air filter PAB8911 & cabin filter PHB5439 for my Civic.
