Just purchased this from amazon. Upon inspection I found one of the core holes wasn't punched out . What are the chances of the oil pressure popping this out into the engine?

I did a pressure drop calculation for the cores on one of these Pentius filters, and it came out to 0.04 psi at 16 GPM. The force on the hole would be 0.002 pounds. I don't think it would come loose unless it were hanging on by a thread, but I still wouldn't chance it.
 
Oh no ... looks like a PG made filter with a defect. Guess it's their turn. 😄

Good move on returning it since you can't pop-out the other hole at the bottom.

Angle a flashlight that’s what I did as just got one. It’s going back, sometimes one example of something is enough. I think that’s possible engine damage as it will go through the outlet. Mine has some evenness around

holes. Can’t take hole pic as good as yours. Good find and just in time.

Isn’t oil flow velocity important?
 
I just got a PLXL7317 in the mail. All of the holes in the centre core are open.

Initial impressions of this filter are good. It's very heavy for its size. The threads are well cut. The inlet holes are a bit small for my liking, but they're larger than the holes on the Purolator 14610/14615 or FRAM 9688/3593A filters. The gasket seems a bit thin (only 3.4 mm wide).

I was concerned about the small size of the bypass valves on Pentius filters, but the BPVs on the XL seem to be larger than they are on the Pentius PLB or Premium Guard filters, at least judging by the size of the metal valve support that's visible. This filter's too nice for a virgin C&P, so I'll check it out at the end of my next OCI.

I figure it would be around 4.8 psi at 63 L/min, which isn't that bad, especially since the rest of this filter should have low restriction.

The FRAM 9688 and 3593A are around 7 psi, and the FRAM 7317 is only 1 psi. The OEM Subaru filter and the Pentius XL3593A are both around 2.7 psi.

I went to google.com, and did this exact search: Pentius PLB oil filter what is the efficiency at what microns?

The Google AI engine came back with Pentius PLB's rated at 99% efficiency @ 20 microns.
Would anyone know if this efficiency rating is correct. This sounds too good to be true for such an inexpensive filter.

Also, are there any known defects on the Pentius PLB filters?

Don't worry about base plate holes. They will all flow well enough to not make any difference to the oil supply to the engine unless you're driving around at redline all the time with 20W-50 oil. The thing to worry about it using a filter with choked down louvers.
