OEM Nissan Filter ADBV was on backwards from factory

So I took this Nissan OEM oil filter off my 2025 Nissan Armada Pro-4x with 1,000 miles on it and cut it open. What you see in the Pic is what oil remained in the bottom of can. Very very little. So after inspecting it turns out from the Mexican factory they put the ADBV on backwards. Good thing the engine has a dry sump and I wasn't getting dry starts for 1,000 miles. I took it off early to inspect for any clogging with Valvoline Restore and protect and HPL engine cleaner. There was no carbon as expected with 12,000+ miles on the engine.

There have been reports that the Mexican Gonher made Nissan filters had a defect where the anti-drain back valve would become inverted on itself. However I doubt it was installed backwards at the plant most likely it inverted during service.

I thought the orientation looked correct from that angle based on other recent Nissan filter C&P's on here, but yours appears to be "popped backwards" like the one in this even older thread:

Same issue 7 years later 😶

4 in a row out of a case so far. I told Nissan and they could have cared less. Probably would never cause any catastrophic damage or the dealerships would be full to the rafters with warranty work. It’s sad because these used to be rock solid filters.

History repeats itself.

Not sure your Nissan has a true dry sump system. Not sure a dry sump would help
in the situation you describe.
All ears.
I just know its a scavenger style pump which was designed so that even on severe inclines horizontally and vertically there should be no oil starvation. Whenever I open door and get in I hear several pumping noises from the engine bay that Im assuming is the scavenger pump priming itself and distributing oil.

Has this ever been a case for the Nissan Japanese made filter ? I have a frontier ..
Good question. I opened up the oil filter that came on it from the factory in Japan. I'm assuming it was made in Japan and I fondly remember there being much more oil remaining in it as well as a bear of a time trying to cut it open with my LongAcre cutter so I had to use tin snips to finally get it apart.

Yes, linked thread my Gonher Nissan OEM post finding from 7 years ago. Then found a couple/few others and linked that the member/posters didn't recognize. I will say that yours 'appears' to have slide down the outlet tube, but unlike my anecdote didn't flip over, invert. But, that could be just be the top view illusion, no side view. As I noted in my thread, besides the adbv not functioning, when the it slides down the tube, it opens an oil bypass area where the adbv central collar seal would be. Yeah, Gonher made Nissan OEM, no bueno.

No. I ran several of the Mahle Nissan filters with the blue writing on them and they were fine. The gohner filters are the problem ones, but how much of a problem to the average person who knows no better remains to be seen. I know when I take off the filter and its basically empty, that it's a problem
