Don’t torque it down, even to the specified torque and it should last a lot longer than most.
It’s still a bad design though that may leak regardless of how careful one is when handling the oil filter changes.

I'm guessing you're talking about the oil filter cartridge head. Agreed on that... IMO even the OE torque spec seems too high. That head seals with an O-ring on the outer diameter so it's not necessary to torque it down at all. If anything, I back off slightly to reduce the stress.
