Has the Ultra lived up to all the hype from early on? I bought some 5w30 a couple years ago, and just got around to using it. It's really smooth in my I5 chevy colorado.

Seems to be excellent stuff.Did an oil change and couldnt believe how the oil looked and felt..still had a lot of body to it,not like draining water, and any dirty film was on the surface and not mixed into the oil.Good stuff to be sure.

Heck yeah. Still have 20 quarts left from a closeout at one of the Walmarts in my area. Those go in my Ridgline again starting next year.

I ran it in my supercharged 2011 Mustang GT 5.0 for the summer of track days. About 1500 miles per change at flat-out running on a race track plus about 3500 miles of highway/city. Changed it twice when the OLM limit said to change it. Results were good TBN retention, excellent oil condition and 0.1 cSt of shear at 100c from the values in the datasheet.

I was impressed. Impressed enough that I'm running REDLINE 5w20 for the winter to use it up so I can put the Ultra back in for next summer.

+1. in my hood....Auto Parts stores DON'T carry the Ultra. They all seem to carry just the Platinum. Most likely it's a shelf space issue since both AAP and AZ don't stock the PU oil in their stores. ONLY PP.

That is good to know. Thanks for that post

Been running Ultra now for 3 changes and LOVE it! My 2010 Suzuki Sportback has been running really smooth and quiet ever since I switched from dealership dino to the Ultra. Used Mobil 1 for years in my wife's Toyota and personally didn't like the way the engine sounded or ran after 5k miles so now we only put Ultra in for all of our vehicles.

I'm on my third oil change using Ultra now as well. I'm really liking this stuff. I haven't done any UOAs on it but things I've noticed since switching to Ultra:

1. The engine sounds "different" its not really noisy, it just sounds more "aggressive"

2. The engine seems much more responsive. I'm not going to claim it increased horsepower, but the engine feels a bit "looser" and less sluggish during acceleration.

3. MPG did increase slightly. I was averaging around 13.4 mpg while using Castrol High Mileage. Since switching to Ultra my average has been 14.5.

Btw, this is in my 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 w/ 5.9L 360 Magnum. 193k miles.
