Pennzoil refused my rebate for purchase of 2 jugs!

Pennzoil has ripped me off WRT their rebates as well. Horrible way to do business. I have a long memory.
There was a lot of complaint about SOPUS MIR denials and simple lost submissions here years ago.
If the intent of a rebate is to promote goodwill with buyers, then I would think that they'd be a little flexible in implementing their program.
A rebate denied brings bad will far in excess of the cost of honoring the rebate.

Maybe it's a strategy. Not really but ).

Producers want customers who buy for the rebate, but never collect on the rebate. Maybe disenfranchising people that will fight tooth and nail for the rebate are not desirable customers?

To anyone not denied outright, be sure to check you're getting the right amount on your rewards card. I was just awarded $10 instead of $20 and am waiting to hear back in the next day after speaking with their phone support.

I purchased 2x Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic 0W-16 Motor Oil, 5 Quart jugs in-store at Walmart to get a printed receipt on May 21st and completed my rebate submission that night. Today (~7 weeks later), I got an email with a link and redemption code for $10 so immediately called. My guess is they misread the receipt or intentionally awarded the lesser Non-Platinum amount and hoped it'd go unnoticed?

Luckily I saved my submission confirmation number to check the status:

Walmart's product description on the receipt does not include "Platinum" but the EAN/UPC code (007161101866) is for Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic 0W-16 Motor Oil 5-Quart:

It's just $10 and ~5 minutes on the phone but this type of apparent incompetence (or willful negligence) is infuriating. From a corporate perspective: It's a feature, not a bug! Best to avoid MIR if at all possible.
